gear_monkey Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 I found this video the other day and something really caught my eye. Fast forward to 7:40 and watch till the end. The extend/retract cycle rate is much higher than in the sim or am I crazy? I've always felt the cycle rate was low but never had anything to base it on until now....see what you guys think: Win 10 64bit; 32 GB DDR4 3200 Ram; ASUS MoBo; 1TB SSD;Intel i7 8700K; GTX 1080ti 11GB; Thrustmaster Warthog;Odyssey + VR
Chrisakky Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Do you mean exactly 8:11? He put that aileron up as the speed brake was reaching its fully extended position. Giving the impression it rose very quickly. YouTube channel
gear_monkey Posted July 4, 2011 Author Posted July 4, 2011 yeah I noticed the aileron, but watch that and then as he taxis past the camera and extends them again for the crowd....again, I might be crazy but I see a big difference in extend speed. Chrisakky Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Na seems the same on the ground. You must be crazy :lol: YouTube channel
winz Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Looks pretty much the same speed as in sim to me. The Valley A-10C Version Revanche for FC 3
Frostiken Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Well it's going to be a little slower in the air since there's 250 kts of air blowing against it too. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Slothface Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 I know the speedbrakes have varying angles of deflection at certain speeds. Higher airspeed = less deflection when fully open, and vice versa. Maybe there is a variable rate of opening and closing depending on airspeed too. I know a lot of aircraft with speedbrakes have variable deployment rates and amounts of deflection at different speeds. Could someone with the knowledge clarify if the rate of deployment varies with speed... too late for me to test in game :) Sloth "You get enough sleep when you're dead!" -------------------------------------------------------------------------- TM WH HOTAS, TM Cougar MFDs, TrackIR 5 Pro Processor: i5 2.67Ghz Board: Intel DP55WB Video: Nvidia GTX650 Ti Boost RAM: 8Gb DDR3 1333MHz OS: Win7

Quirkitized Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 wow that is definitely faster than in-game, on ground or not.
Deadman Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Speed Break deployment 0 to 100% on the ground should be approx 3 seconds https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
