Hi All,

I've been practicing the ACC A-10 demo routine in the sim, however the only AFI document I can find for it is from 2002 and I know that while most of the maneuvers haven't changed, the order in which they occur and the transitions between them have, so I'm wondering if anyone knows the exact order of the current demo routine maneuvers (as of 2011) I missed seeing the routine in person at Andrews during the Joint Services Open House and I've not found a full video of the routine from this year on YouTube, so I don't know what, if anything, has changed in the routine since last year.

Also.. a question of performance as it relates to the DCS A-10C...

Some of the demo maneuvers specify a target entry speed of 400 KCAS, however I have never been able to get the DCS A-10 to reach speeds any higher than 360 KCAS, even in benign weather conditions, no external stores and with the recommended fuel load for the demo routine (3500lbs).

Aside from the slow pass and the landing, the entire routine is flown at max power, but I've never been able to achieve anything above 360 KCAS.

I use a TM Hotas Warthog and it is properly calibrated, however I still can't seem to get the aircraft even close to 400 KCAS... the most of the maneuvers that specify the 400 KCAS target entry speed begin from level, unloaded flight, so it's obviously possible to to it in the real machine, however I can barely get above 360 KCAS in level flight, even after unloading from a steep dive.

Anyone else notice this or is there something I may be missing in the setup that would hinder me from reaching this speed?

Just to be clear, the inability to reach 400 KCAS doesn't prevent me from executing the routine.. I'm able to perform all of the maneuvers with adequate margins that are well above the prescribed minimums, but just to be able to fly the routine by the numbers, I'd like to be able to get the aircraft to at least hit the 400 KCAS mark.

Thanks in advance to any of you who can shed light on my questions!

- Greg

Might be due to the fact that the Demo craft has all but 2 weapons-stations removed, accounting for a lot less drag and attendant weight.

Sure thing - prior to takeoff radio weapons and tell them to drop station 2,3,4,6,8,9 and 10 pylons. Make sure they chrome the muzzle clamp while they're at it. Oh, I almost forgot about the chaff/flare panels. Get the drill... you're gonna be waiting a while.

Maybe ED could model a demo bird ....

Oh yes, I forgot. Have you emptied the craft of 30mm goodliness?

Accounts for almost 1000 pounds right there In-SIM.

Yep... that was one of the first things I removed...

You need a 5000' steep dive :)

have you tried changing fuel flow setting? I recall reading something about it increasing engine power--but not recommended.

I find the most challenging is the vertical 540... very hard to get the perfect roll and a half going straight up.

All of my life I've always wondered why those narrators for airshows sound like such dorks with that stylized delivery. It sounds incredibly cheesy...and imo just detracts from the majesty of the aircraft themselves.

Anyway... just my 2cents.

Some do a better job than others. (Rob Reider is a pleasure listening to during air shows. Great speaker, voice, delivery, timing and inflection).

Many of the military teams use people who aren't trained public speakers prior to their tours, so there tends to be a little to be desired sometimes.
