Migow Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 hi i found a way to escape successfully ir sam the program is 181 , you set release countermeasure on your joystick when you see a missile incoming release one time the countermeasure it will work  -> against manpad flareagainstmanpad.trk -> against 4 sa13 flare againstsa13.trk it work well. the last one i was out of flares:doh: the better in MP the leader is behind to cover wingman and spot sam launch the wingman drop flare each sam launch member of 06 MHR / FENNEC Mi-24P
StarHopper Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 333 works good for me without wasting too many flares. Drop 3 flares, wait 3 seconds, do it again 2 more times. What I want to know is, how do some of the AI you see in game release that instantaneous cloud of flares? I've seen that in RL video's on TV as well. Its like they blew all their flares in a second or two.
Jaximus Decimus Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Watch the dev video on the countermeasures dispenser. When cycling through dispense intervals 5 might mean five seconds, but 6 actually means 1/10 of a second. I don't remember exactly which numbers are special like that, but I'm pretty sure Number of Sequences, Interval and Quantity all have special numbers. Using those modifiers you could probably pop all your flares from both pods in just a couple seconds.
159th_Viper Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 IJv8VZC1UVo&feature=related Count the flares - must be easy about 250+ in a matter of 8-10 seconds, if not more. Pretty as a Picture! Eddie Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Flare carts in the magazines when you're spiralling towards the ground in flames are the very definition of useless. If you're fired at, get every flare you have in the air.
adam12 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 If you're careful and there aren't too many of them, you don't even need any flares :)
RustyNuts Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 If they did that at low alt over a national forest they would be in some serious sh**! Online as Hawk 5
Jona33 Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 I usually set flares to 8-2-1 and find it works very well. Mostly because I don't need to keep hitting the start button. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
Migow Posted October 14, 2011 Author Posted October 14, 2011 it's stated that russian manpad in DCS have SA 18S igla but when they launch their missile it's sa16 gimlet with worse resilience to IR jamming than SA 24 (SA18 S) so what is it ? SA 24 or SA 16 gimlet? please fix the mistake^^. member of 06 MHR / FENNEC Mi-24P

It appears to be, as stated in the ME, the Iglas-S. 3 types: # Igla-1/SA-16 Gimlet # Igla/SA-18 Grouse # Igla-S/SA-24 Grinch Appears to be an error in the descriptions. For what it's worth, I'd treat any launch as an Igla-S as stated in the ME and evade accordingly, although in the case of the Igla-S, ensure that my affairs are well in order - lucky if you walk away from the 9M342 with all your parts intact. Daniel M Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 safe to assume that (without mods) the mark I eyeball is the only way to detect launch?
159th_Viper Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 safe to assume that (without mods) the mark I eyeball is the only way to detect launch? Quite correct. Even with the sensor suite on the A-10C, detecting the launch is sometimes not enough for a successful evasion. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? dsobbe Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 I've found that I can often evade detection and also confuse sams by hiding behind high tension lines and thier towers. This lets me get within cannon range of shilkas and sam sites. Even incoming missles seem to be confused by the wires and towers. Anyone else notice this? And, would that be the case in the real world?
Jona33 Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 safe to assume that (without mods) the mark I eyeball is the only way to detect launch? And your eagle eyed wingman. Obviously. He has some uses. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
