crazyeddie Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 I have searched the threads but cannot find an answer to this, although it is probably out there in the ether somewhere. In Game Mode is there a way to switch the 2 MFD's on and off when in an external view, they get in the way at times and it would be useful to toggle them on and off if we can.

Nate--IRL-- Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Apparently if you switch off the MFCDs in the cockpit (F1) they are off in the F4 View also. Use the knob on the lower left of the MFCDs to do this. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
crazyeddie Posted October 20, 2011 Author Posted October 20, 2011 Cheers Nate, the obvious answer, I should have thought of that !!!
Medic88 Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 If ya play in game mode then your only getting 1% of the real game play from this sim. Jump into full sim and play the sitting duck mission to get used to it. Once ya do get used to it ya will never look back. Also in sim mode al your doing is fire press button fire press button and fire. waste of a great sim

Fleshpiston Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 (edited) But the Game mode is there for people that want it and it is their choice. I prefer Sim mode but if I lack the time to play then I would quite happily pop it into Game mode. I can see why some people use game mode (I haven't yet but there is still time) EDIT: Has led me onto another thought. Eddie if you don't mind what is your main reason for using game mode over sim? Nate--IRL-- Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 BTW Something I didn't know until recently is that the instructions for Game mode are in the Quickstart Manual. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
Jona33 Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Game mode's fun when you feel like messing around and seeing tanks explode and having limitless recoveries. I don't use it but I can see why people do. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
Rusty_M Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 I don't see the point in judging people for how they spend their free time as long as it's not harming anyone. If they want to play game mode or HAWX or whatever, that's fine. I do know there's a huge difference between DCS game mode & HAWX though. Just do whatever's fun! The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine! http://www.twitch.tv/rusty_the_robot https://www.youtube.com/user/RustyRobotGaming
EtherealN Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 I've actually been known to play in game mode a few times in Black Shark, but mainly for nostalgia reasons - the gameplay gets the same feel as in the classic Novalogic Werewolf game, which I spent unholy amounts of hours with back in school. :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
crazyeddie Posted October 21, 2011 Author Posted October 21, 2011 I have been around DCS for as long as I can remember but am not all that interested in the immersion value of DCS A10C, but I can certainly see the attraction for all of you guys who love it, warts and all, it is an interesting development from LFC2. My personal interest is the eye candy stuff, getting the environment looking right, improving things where I can. Better ships, better trees, better landscapes, better everything. I prefer LFC2 because I have been able to alter that in so many ways, but I have now exhausted that potential I think DCS A01C is just another challenge but I am more interested in getting into the guts of the game right now with a view to changing things and the quick way to do that is in Game Mode. Didn't a recent survey on one of the sites show that many more people still play LFC2 than BS or A10C, I think that tells you something about what the bulk of the community want. The realism of an accurate cockpit is not everyone's cup of tea. . Anyway - Game Mode for me, with the occasional lapse into Sim Mode when I feel the need. (I have played Sim Mode, in case you wondered, too many damn switches for me, I'm a valve and cast iron man !!!) PS: A10C is a bitch, the guts are complicated and this is going to be tough !!!

The realism of an accurate cockpit is not everyone's cup of tea. . I am pretty sure that poll was on a Flaming Cliffs 2 site, so its really not a proper sample. If you put some afterburners, radar, amraams, harms, and a tail hook on the A-10 that would change a little. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Depth Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 (edited) Every time someone asks a question about game mode it always deflates into "waste of a good sim" or "you're doing it all wrong". It's like going into a long discussion of an Intel product just to say "But AMD is better!" For my own selfish satisfaction, I'm going to boot up the sim, set it in game mode then play with the keyboard. You mad? Edit: Edited October 21, 2011 by Depth [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
EtherealN Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Didn't a recent survey on one of the sites show that many more people still play LFC2 than BS or A10C, I think that tells you something about what the bulk of the community want. The realism of an accurate cockpit is not everyone's cup of tea. . Well, first off, the only accurate information available regarding usage of FC2 vs BS and A-10 is the statistics held in the ED offices through activations, Master server logs and sales figures. Individual sites like that will never give you accurate data. Also, you shouldn't make the mistake of assuming that the reasons for people's choices are the same as your reasons - for example, a lot of people hold off on A-10 because they want to do A2A with afterburners... So even if realism is exactly what they want, if they want realism and pointy noses, FC2 is all there is for those specific people right now. ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
