Mustang Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 (edited) This mod simply replaces all the trees that produce shadows in DCS with ones that do not - good for those who need all the FPS they can get :) LINK REMOVED: tree shadows can now be turned on or off via options menu in v1.1.1.1 onwards. Nate--IRL-- Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Good Idea. I wonder if there is any point in benchmarking a track with them on and off. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
Niki75 Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Nice work, but actually i like the tree shadows. Is it possible to add shadows to those trees near/in towns that don't have shadows? Thanks for your efforts, Mustang! Regards, Niki
P1KW Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Excellent Mustang. Thanks for your work. It has a slight impact on performance, but the interesting thing is that the world is more natural. In addition, it avoids some aberrations graphics, especially on the ridges. And even more, in reality, in good weather, at what distance you see a tree? 9000m do? Ok. What about the shadow of the tree? At 9000m, of course not. That's a design error in the graphics engine. It is unnatural that a tree in the distance look with shadow. Greetings. HiJack Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Good idea there Mustang but I'l keep the update for now. I like the three shadows and have removed my mirrors, it helped a bit. (HJ)
Gadroc Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Thank you very much for this. Those big black blotches in the distance are no more! 1
C6_Hellfrog Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 I agree, it is much more pleasant without trees shadows ! 1
213 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 i flew around during overcast and noticed tree shadows were much fainter. so clearly it has a relation to light. could we perhaps adjust the tree shadow setting to be more faint and have a small radius around the player camera so the black blotches disappear? maybe this requires a new thread, but putting this suggestion down for anyone who knows how to mod.
