strongbird Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Hey people, Iam quite new to the Black shark. My issue is when iam in mid air flying and i stabilise the aircraft, when i use the rudder left/right it automaticly keeps going back to its position it was at before i ruddered it. also when you do this inflight and then use the aircraft to get it in position it still goes rudder left/right. It might sound a bit weird how i typed it out. Sorry for bad english. Thanks, 1

Bucic Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Welcome! Sounds like a standard unfamiliarity with the trimmer operation. Please refer to the Rookie pilots - Quick Intro and search for mentions of 'trim'. spikenet Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 As already mentioned, learn about the trim. The theory of it is simple, in pracitce its very hard to use, expecially in BS2! If you want to fly it like a normal 'helo" turn on Flight director mode. Otherwise, turn off the heading channel on the autopilot and it wont try to keep you on course ;) have fun
strongbird Posted November 17, 2011 Author Posted November 17, 2011 how do i enable flight director and what does it actualy do?

Assign a HOTAS command to this. next to turn and stay in that direction, turn off that channel, twist the rudder and stabilise in desired direction, then engage the channel back. if you want a demo track let me know. If the channel is off and the bird is still turning, you've locked the rudder into a trim. Reset trim, and check your rudder centered by Rctrl+Enter (lowermost horizontal bar) AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. jib Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 are you using flight peddles, twist joystick or keyboard for rudder? It is a lot easier with a set of peddles (except you then have to figure a way to untether them from the trim, I have a button on my hotas mapped to z to reset rudder trim) Mods I use: KA-50 JTAC - Better Fire and Smoke - Unchain Rudder from trim KA50 - Sim FFB for G940 - Beczl Rocket Pods Updated! I've always used pedals and have never noticed anything specific with them apart from the normal trim function.. maybe this is part of reason sometimes it goes into a wild spin.
