Caspet Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Hi all. I'm in the process of mapping all the HOTAS button/switch settings, eg (DMS forward long, TAD as SOI "map scale up", China Hat aft short "recage". that will hopfully help me (and you if it's good enough and out there) to remember where they all are. I've been trawling through the manual and the training missions making notes on the way but im still missing a few commands, well about 50%. Some questions. 1. Are some none fuctional, I know some are not. 2. Has this been done before. 3.Do you think this is worth the effort or should I just read the manual, do the training missions a few times and memorize them :smartass: Any imput would be helpfull. Thanks peeps  Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee Muhammad Ali-(Cassius Clay) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Eddie Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 1. Are some none fuctional, I know some are not. 2. Has this been done before. 3.Do you think this is worth the effort or should I just read the manual, do the training missions a few times and memorize them? 1. All HOTAS functions should work in the sim to my knowledge 2. Not sure but I think I've seen something similar done by a few on the forums. 3. Memorise them and build the muscle memory without a doubt. But, any aid that helps you do that is good, you may find that simply making such a guide and the research you are doing will have you knowing all the commands in no time.

Thanks Eddie for your quick reply. 1.I understand all the functions that are needed work in the sim but are somr buttons/switches not used ie. TMS HUD as SOI left/long, DMS TAD as SOI forward/long dont seem to be used. 2. thanks will have a search (should have done that first!) 3. should really do some gym work on the old grey matter  Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee Muhammad Ali-(Cassius Clay) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Depending on SOI, there are a lot of buttons that are non-functional. Others, like the Mic switch up command is entirely non-functional. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? FreeFall Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 How or when do you use the MAV DMS Reticle Left/Right/Up/Down? I don't know how to take advantage of it.

FreeFall Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 (edited) Used to set the default Maverick Boresight Location. OK. Must test it some day. So far seemingly I have been content with the default boresight. EDIT: Tried to use DMS MAV Reticle Left/Right/Up/Down, but wasn't able to do anything with it. And manual (p. 572) shows another way to change the boresight position using depressible pipper. How exactly do u use DMS while setting MAV boresight position? Edited November 21, 2011 by FreeFall
Fish Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Manual pg 87-93. ......................the Mic switch up command is entirely ............... Thats why i got my ESC key mapped to it. Cancels radio commands. :hehe: Fish's Flight Sim Videos [sIGPIC]I13700k, RTX4090, 64gb ram @ 3600, superUltraWide 5120x1440, 2560x1440, 1920x1080, Warthog, Tusba TQS, Reverb VR1000, Pico 4, Wifi6 router, 360/36 internet[/sIGPIC]
FreeFall Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Thats why i got my ESC key mapped to it. Cancels radio commands. :hehe: Stupid question (there are no stupid questions, only stupid people like me...): How do u do that? Once tried to add Radio Up button at first to Esc. No success with that so next I added it to F12 button. So I tried both buttons which normally make the radio menu disappear from the screen. But neither worked. I just added the Radio Up so that the original "bindings" (End Mission and Show Static Object or something like that) were there as well.
Fish Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 .........How do u do that? ....... (not a stupid question) Well its not a 'hotas' function. But I've mapped the 3 radio buttons to a 4 way switch on my cougar, and the spare button, i've programmed for the ESC key. UP/LEFT/DOWN are radios, RIGHT is 'ESC'. I use Foxy for the Cougar. Don't know how its done for the Warthog. FreeFall Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 I suppose I should install the Target software in order to get the Esc programmed. I think I skip the installation. I'll be OK with Esc and F12 keyboard buttons.
july865 Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 if you use the target software to program your TM, then you will need to program ALL the hotas functions. once you run it, it will negate the built in warthog support within the game.
