EventHorizon Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 I cannot seem to get the ground crew to respond to my refuel or rearm requests when Im on the tarmac. Im using "easy communications" option. They simply dont reply. When I am airborne I have no issues contacting the towers. Also, This is probably stupid but could someone please explain to me step by step what the 9 line is when I talk to JTAC... and what is the 15 min, 30 min check in option all about when I initiate comms with them ? If any from DCS is reading this, I would recommend adding a training video for how to take directions from JTAC.
kylania Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 (edited) You need a friendly land vehicle at the airfield in order to use Ground Crew there. There's a bunch of JTAC stuff around, but not many step by step newbie guides explaining what it all means, just how to do it. Here's a good video of the steps: The playtime is just how much time you'll have available to be in the area I believe. I'm not entirely sure if there's an in game effect if you tell it one time frame vs another though. EventHorizon Posted November 26, 2011 Author Posted November 26, 2011 So when I make my missions in mission editor I just need to put a brad or a tank within close proximity to my intended airfield to make it respond ?
kylania Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 So when I make my missions in mission editor I just need to put a brad or a tank within close proximity to my intended airfield to make it respond ? Yup! I usually put a HEMTT tanker and like an Avenger or HMMWV somewhere around there. Bix Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 having the same problem, I'm at a friendly/neutral airfield and get no response. Am I understanding the above correctly?: There needs to be a friendly ground vehicle placed on the map?? I see various trucks/tankers around--is that not good enough? I pull up right next to them at Tbilisi and get nothing.....please advise thx!!
andysim Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 ive seen pictures of a JTAC using a Donkey to carry his equipment lol. Why no Donkies in DCS A-10?

bradleyjs Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 I have discovered that the Canopy must be open in order for them to service the request. jeffyd123 Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 turn that dial to "INT". the canopy will work but only if the engines are off. took me about 5 hours to figure this one out. i7 8700K @ 4.4Ghz, 16G 3200 RAM, Nvidia 1080Ti, T16000 HOTAS, TIR5, 75" DLP Monitor
bradleyjs Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Weird, I've been able to ReArm/Refuel with the engines on and the canopy open ... just did it 5 times ... must be my config I guess. jeffyd123 Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 and the dial is on VHF? that is weird... I was able to talk to my crew with the canopy open and the engines off BUT, I was in a bunker at the time... maybe thats the difference. bradleyjs Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 "Easy Radio" settings don't think it needs to be set to INT for that setting... degoe Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 asad turn that dial to "INT". the canopy will work but only if the engines are off. took me about 5 hours to figure this one out. Yep, I thought they wouldnt like to be near running engines so I luckily turned them off, opened my cockpit + stow ladder right the first (serious) try.
degoe Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Its a real bummer that you cant refuel/rearm during the campaigns, most of the time my wingman goes kamikaze into a sam site and im left on my own. Being alone I don't have enough munitions to take out all targets. Would be way better if they'd just put a friendly unit on each allied airbase so that rearming is possible. Now you just have to guess whether you can rearm, which 90% of the time isn't possible. It also needs to be clearer where in the base you need to be to rearm. Would also be cool if you could command your wingman to rearm and to have a ramp start campaign (without bugs) as a possibility.

Click on the airbase in the F-10 map which will show if it is friendly or not. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
badger66 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 (edited) I use easy radio , and Ive had the issue at the base where I start , that the ground crew wont respond , and neither does the tower . Not all the time , just sometimes . Also , once I contact the tower for permission for startup , when it works , I then cant ask for the crew to rearm or to adjust my fuel . It will just let me ask for permission to taxi , or then take off . Edited March 3, 2012 by badger66

BelgarionNL Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 I would love this to be fixed! or at least explained properly in the manual! I start the mission and I want to change my loadout but nothing happens!

I start the mission and I want to change my loadout but nothing happens! Hi BelgarionNL, Welcome to the Forums! Here is a link to a YouTube video that I made showing how to interact with the Ground Crew. The audio came out very low, so turn up your volume before watching, and remember to turn your volume back down when your done. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "Is that you John Wayne?.......Is this me?"
