Cali Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Look at those guys touching and standing all around it, so many hazards that they don't know about. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
Phantom88 Posted December 15, 2011 Author Posted December 15, 2011 Yeah,Undoubtedly it will end up in some anti-American propaganda vid. Patrick

Vekkinho Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 I thought F-15 aircraft had no issues with asymmetric payloads. At least according to GGT's post here. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Vekkinho Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Look at those guys touching and standing all around it, so many hazards that they don't know about. Hazards such as?! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Cupra Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Just google about hydrazine, what is uses for APU power or other fluids and chemical stuff used by aircraft... DCS F-16C Blk. 40/42 :helpsmilie: Candidate - 480th VFS - Cupra | 06
topol-m Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 not to mention that a JDAM might be approaching to clear the wreckage while you're chilling on top of it :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Pilotasso Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Hazards such as?! Hydrazine and chemicals released from the composite materials, not to mention any explosives still on board. .
Vekkinho Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 70% hydrazine / 30% water solution is used for APU but it's sealed in a accumulator so it highly unlikely you've got it sprayed over the crash site or wreckage. This 70% hydrazine solution is as poisonous as your cycling spandex knickers. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Vekkinho Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 not to mention that a JDAM might be approaching to clear the wreckage while you're chilling on top of it :D Yeah that seems more dangerous than any onboard stuff that survived the impact. This wreckage is pretty solid, was it hard landed or was it uncontrolled crash? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Phantom88 Posted December 17, 2011 Author Posted December 17, 2011 The Pilot and Wizzo Bailed and survived,I'm guessing uncontrolled crash. Patrick
GGTharos Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 (edited) I was talking about fire control systems, not flight performance. /All/ aircraft are more departure-prone with asymmetric payloads - or more specifically, weight imbalance. It could be fuel tanks that aren't evenly filled, doesn't have to be payload. I thought F-15 aircraft had no issues with asymmetric payloads. At least according to GGT's post here. Cali Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 F-15's don't use hydrazine, F-16's and U-2's use it. Other hazards are from fuel, paint and fibers in the aircraft material. I went on a F-16 crash site back in April 2006 and had to get fully suited up to go retrieve the H-70 (hydrazine bottle which was split like a soda can. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
hog_driver111th Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Why is it that the dumbasses always have to stand on the downed aircraft? mikoyan Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Check this out: f-15a Who nows if they did this test with the aircraft loaded? high alpha test (very cool)
BlueRidgeDx Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 I didn't read the AIB and this has little to do with this accident, but at high AoA the F-15 is susceptible to departure for some interesting reasons. Among the causes are scratches on the radome, radome latch security, flight control rigging, and even air passing through the gun vent louvres.
