Nope, the notch is 144kph wide beyond 10km, ~70kph wide inside 10km. Now if you happen to be suffering from micro-warping on the fighter's computer, then you'll be intermittently picked up since you're likely to momentarily exceed the notch ...

Interesting. as ever, thanks.

I know... but then the whining starts about takeoff/landing strikes...

EDIT: New item for FC3/DCS wishlist, localised bird strike exemption. Assume a perfect environmental management at the base for 5 mile radius ;)

Better feature: make whiners go quiet. :D

Flying low means there's a risk for birds. Live with it. I mean, it's not like it's a big deal if you have to go-around and get a new plane anyway.

Hey EtherealN what is that barcode for on your avatar. And by that I mean what product is it tied to?

I need, I need, I need... What about my wants? QuickSilver original.

"Off with his job" Mr Burns on the Simpsons.

"I've seen steering wheels / arcade sticks / flight sticks for over a hundred dollars; why be surprised at a 150 dollar item that includes the complexities of this controller?! It has BLINKY LIGHTS!!" author unknown.

These titles are listed in the chronological order I purchased them.

There is no easy way to merge players flying FC and DCS planes in the same enviroment. In FC I'm able to fly making barrelrolls, talking with someone holding mobile phone, watching TV, fire missiles in the same time (and who knows what else). In DCS Im crashing after doing such things.

Will FC3 change anything? Definitely not.

That sure is harsh judgement for a product that is not even out yet.

I don't think that is harsh. It's a very reasonable assumption to say FC3, while coming with lots of great improvements, probably won't increase in the amount of systems etc. modeled much and therefore will not be at the same complexity of a DCS release.

I personally think mixing complex planes with non-complex planes is not a big deal. I would be more than ecstatic to shoot down someone flying a FC3 jet with my DCS Jet. You wouldn't hear me complain about that. :)

Then you're doing it wrong ... be it your comparison or the flying itself, or a bit of both.

Crunch I agree that you are probably right about the systems part. I was refering more to the possibility of them updating all the aircraft to the advanced flight model that the Su25T uses.

I stand by what I said though. How can someone pass judgement on software they have not even seen yet? Thats like people who say X game is going to be great. Then it comes out and is rushed and poorly designed (Duke Nukem comes to mind). I say we wait and see.

To be honest I hope I'm wrong. It can be different product than FC2 but I really doubt it. What can we expect from refreshed software? It will look better, it will soud better but it's the same idea.

In DCS I feel a need to do something using procedures, radios... in FC you can taxi your fighter to runway without using taxi ways - just close your eyes and taxi what a feel.

Whoever thinks LO planes add unbalance to DCS have the solution just by no adding them. It cannot be easier, can it? It just can't :D

Please ED, for the love of all that's convenient and reasonable, merge these products onto a single opening GUI and single multiplayer browser. If we are expected to step out of our WH to and into a F15C to fill a CAP deficiency on our team, then shutting down one game to start another is an awkward series of hoop-jumping for such an otherwise sophisticated product.

My major gripe about FC 2 was that there was basically no way to share target data or location (beside bullseye). I do not see that being fixed though.

I know you're speaking on the ground attack, so within those FC2.0 aircraft (25/25T/10A) there isn't any feature within the RL aircraft themselves anyway with the BS.

... not until recent integration work of Link-16 in USAF aircraft, helos, and vehicles. Obviously it is not in all the fleet, but the capability is there and hs been tested.
