Caspet Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Hi all First off, Happy New Year to you all! :yay: Now does anyone know if thier is a way to open the hard shelter doors after a mission and can you open the A10 inspection hatches after shut down. Iv'e seen my wingman do both so can I? Cheers  Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee Muhammad Ali-(Cassius Clay) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Kuky Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 AI can do it as that's scripted (if AI aircraft starts inside the shelter), if player spawns inside the shelter the door will open also but you can't open any other shelter door yourself, there is no such feature in the sim No longer active in DCS...

Spectre_USA Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Back in the day on A-10A's, they'd park with the aft facing the blast doors, then winch them in. IIRC, they used the tugs and a tow-bar most of the time, but had to do a winch test periodically to ensure they still worked well. This was at the "Super Wing," 81st TFW at RAF Bentwaters and Woodbridge... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] A tale of 2 hogs
Caspet Posted January 2, 2012 Author Posted January 2, 2012 And real world our jets don't taxi into a HAS, the stop in front and we push it back into the HAS. Makes sense. Thats what i tend to do, if you taxi in you would have to reverse out. Spose you could enable the mirrors, take an fp hit and use them. Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee Muhammad Ali-(Cassius Clay) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
MTFDarkEagle Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 There is another... controversial way to back into the hangar. Arm gun, set the ground armament switch to override (or whatever position it is, can't remember), fire away! :D Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread

SUBS17 Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 In the BFT Low level mission you have to do a U turn in a revetment which is a bit tricky the first time. Worth it though seeing what happens. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]

ALDEGA Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 And real world our jets don't taxi into a HAS, the stop in front and we push it back into the HAS.Would be a great DCS feature ... :D
Eddie Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Would be a great DCS feature ... :D Not something pilots ever see. By the time a jet is being put back into its HAS they stick actuator will be back in their nice warm briefing room while mere mortal ground crew work out in the cold and rain, fixing the stuff they have broken. Don't know how other airforces do things, but we rarely launch aircraft from inside a HAS, they are normally towed outside the doors before the aircrew even get there. The only jets we always launch from inside a HAS are the QRA jets. If, for example, you have deployed to another base for operations (our recent deployment to Italy for example) you may not be able to launch from the HAS, and the jets must be dragged outside. For GPS equipped aircraft to align the nav system properly the HAS must be fitted with a GPS signal repeater, which those not used permenantly probably won't be.
Snoopy Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 What I was at Osan the only time we would do the entire launch in the HAS was during exercises. Normal operations the pilot steps to the jet, we start up the engines and taxi in front of the HAS then finish the launch from there. This was all back in 97/98 so it may have chanced by now... v303d Fighter Group Discord | Virtual 303d Fighter Group Website
Caspet Posted January 3, 2012 Author Posted January 3, 2012 OK, so I just started a mission and forgot the anti skid and crashed while I was turning during taxi. So I thought for a change I would shut down and wait for repairs and hey presto, the inspection hatches opened (shame I seem to be doing a "harrier" impression) :music_whistling: So, any chance nice devs in the future we can have a key bound to this so we can open/close ourselves  Cheers all  Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee Muhammad Ali-(Cassius Clay) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Spectre_USA Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 (edited) Speaking of Harrier impressions, try the repair in the dirt. There is a flurry of dust like a jet engine is mounted just inside the wing roots. If I was at home, I'd post a picture of it, what a hoot! Edited January 4, 2012 by Spectre_USA Hope? I meant home.
