AlphaOneSix Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Well, I suppose it was just a matter of time, but after 26 hours of total flight time, I've finally completed my first solo! I started in a Cessna 172, but I switched to a Piper Archer about 10 flight hours ago, and that's what I soloed in. I thought I would have felt more excited about it, but I was so busy that I forgot to be excited. Oh well, maybe next time. :) Now on to solo practices and cross country flying.
Jona33 Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Nice one man. Congratulations. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
Krebs20 Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Congratulations. And good move into the Archer. I never liked the 172. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

AlphaOneSix Posted January 9, 2012 Author Posted January 9, 2012 How was the landing? I did three landings solo, two touch and go's, last one full-stop. They were all pretty decent because the wind was pretty much non-existent, and I'm nailing the landing airspeeds, but of course I still need some work, like with hitting my desired touchdown point, landing right on the centerline, and for some reason I have a lot of trouble transitioning my line of sight from the touchdown point to the other end of the runway during the flare. So yeah I still need practice, but at least now we can move on in my training and start doing XC work. I feel like I've been stuck trying to figure out landings for the last 10 flight hours...I was always too fast (my instructor was rather vague on that, I actually figured it out on my own and made it a point to really nail the speeds).
joey45 Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 Congrats dude. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. pitbldr Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 Congrats! That's a big step!! I had the same issue with my landings... 2 or 3 lessons just working on those and then I had to fly with a different instructor due to scheduling issues and was nailing them after one flight. :)

Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
