Timmay Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Hello fellow Sim-Enthusiasts! I want to show you my pit, from the building to using it to enjoy this awesome sim. I want to make all panels functional in the nearer future, but one step after the other. The pit is based on the superb plans that Dimebug provided. All credits belong to you Dime!!! Thanks a lot! So, here are the pix: Comments are welcome! 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] If it got tits or wings, it makes you trouble!!

weasel75 Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Man, that is awesome, thank you for sharing  One question though - what size is that TFT? Edit: PS: Mhmm.. maybe I'll "take" some ideas from those pictures, as I also prefer wood over metal... it is such a great material to work with. basic for translators ...
Timmay Posted January 15, 2012 Author Posted January 15, 2012 @Cali: Yes, that's me in the flight suit. @Weasel: The TFT is 27". Its a samsung monitor. @all: thank you for your kind words. I appreciate that. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] If it got tits or wings, it makes you trouble!!

PlainSight Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 I'd only bring MFDs closer together, for easier reach and better view angle. Other than that, top class  [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Timmay Posted January 15, 2012 Author Posted January 15, 2012 Thank you guys!! Now I know, that it is indeed a nice pit! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] If it got tits or wings, it makes you trouble!!
Timmay Posted January 30, 2012 Author Posted January 30, 2012 A little progress. Now i've got a second monitor with Helios running. The config with all the exports was a real pain in the butt. But now I am happy, that it is working. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] If it got tits or wings, it makes you trouble!!
whartsell Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 very nice. looks like im about 2 weeks behind you as im using dimebugs plans as well. I wish my woodworking skills were as good as yours. After seeing how helios looks in the cockpit im really torn now between just getting another monitor to get up and running quickly with helios or waiting and taking the time to build out the mechanical instruments. I guess i could do both ;) Arduino,EOS and Helios Tutorial Static ATC menu mod
whartsell Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 i love your warthog center stick solution. If you get a chance can you give me the measurements for the extension Arduino,EOS and Helios Tutorial Static ATC menu mod
Timmay Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 Sure can do. As soon as I am home, I will provide you with the measurements. The monitor solution is only a step on my roadmap. You can easily replicate the main instrument panel, when you use the old one as a template. So it is absolutely possible to change to real switches etc. But the use of a monitor has it's advantages. Panels are planned, but that has to wait right now. My wife will kill me, if I am not saving some dough for the roof of our house! :music_whistling: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] If it got tits or wings, it makes you trouble!!
avlolga Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Very nice PIT !!! the fear from our women always amuses me :megalol:
Timmay Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 It's natural behaviour! Someone said "behind a strong man stands an even stronger woman" You can't live with them and you can't live without them. Like Admiral Akbar said in Star Wars: IT'S A TRAP!!!! :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] If it got tits or wings, it makes you trouble!!
avlolga Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 we need to ask ED to open new anonymous Group "like to build a PIT but fear from your wife? ... join us, we have free support group" welcome greeting for any new user will be: "we love and hug you poor husband" have a  and get free panel for example. :D
Timmay Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 That would be nice and I think there would be enough participants joining in!!! Especially when you throw out free panels!! I would join! Definitely. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] If it got tits or wings, it makes you trouble!!
Zenga Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 I will join too... Perhaps we really should open a new thread "best excuses for how to explain your wife why you spend another hundred bucks for a little piece of metal and a few switches".... My favorite is this one: "Ah, so you buy all your shoes only because you NEED them?..." By the way: Great Pit, Timmay. Seems to be a very good balance between immersion and budget!
avlolga Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 I buy them because i can help it my love , i am addicted :( this why i am in that Group, so don't say am not doing something for our marriages, this is all for you my love !!! :megalol:
whartsell Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 I was shocked when my wife said i could put the pit in the game room. I was planning on keeping it in my office Arduino,EOS and Helios Tutorial Static ATC menu mod
avlolga Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 whartsell, watch you back !!!. when you start being shocked from your wife - "wife said i could put the pit in the game room" this can be very expansive. don't fall for it, be strong, join the Group !!! :megalol: next week she we tell you - i have allowed you to move your fine pit to the .... what do you say about this new item ..... (mmmm it can be anything) ... forget about new IO card, new panel , new screen for the next half year... :D
deaconjb Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Very nice pit Timmay. This is what I'm looking to do myself. Thanks for the pics [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
