Multiplayer Search and Rescue

Is search and rescue in multiplayer possible? Can a pilot that has ejected enter a KA-50 the same way he can enter a UAZ? If so, this could lead to some interesting search and rescue missions.

Strap him to the ka50? Poor pilot!

You can create such a scenario with current triggers. When you land near the pilot (m4 infantry unit for example) it will dissapear as if it entered your Heli. Then fly to the field hospital which triggers the appearance of another unit which represents the pilot again. Mission fails when first unit dies, mission succes when second unit is spawned.

Lets see If I can make such a thing...

If I understand you correctly, you are wondering if during a multiplayer mission,

you can rescue a downed buddy? Unfortunately with the way the system is laid out, you can not do so currently.

As far as a pilot entering a KA-50 that is not possible either. The KA-50 is a single seat aircraft and unless the guy is going to sit on your lap while you fly, just not feasible. Perhaps he could strap himself to a wheel?

If he was flying an A-10 he could not jump into the KA-50 cockpit if say he ditched his aircraft near an airfield. Its similar to the way you can not fly an a-10 then switch to the ka-50 even though they are both flyable in the same mission. You have to quit a-10 load black shark, then join the mission to fly the black shark.

My theory of buddy SAR. Replace Aim-9 with Vikhr..

AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

No, a pylon. It's happened before (I've heard of examples from both Vietnam and Afghanistan), and will happen again... if things are desperate, you just grab on to like a pylon or pod or something and go on a ride from hell... just hold on tight ... and hopefully you're strapped on too.

BTW, Combat Helo is supposed to have this feature whenever it finally comes out.

I simulate a troop extract in one of my missions. I put a few waypoints around the extract point, so it circles to a hover, then make it go altitude +2. When the helo reaches the ground the troops disappear under it (trigger zone + unit alt). Close and not exactly flawless.. but hell, you're watching it from the cockpit of a Hawg.. so it doesn't look bad at all.

Build it.. and they will fly..

Or you could just sit on the KA-50 wings. The Apaches have done it. These soldiers were going in for a rescue mission, riding on the wings of the Apache. Take a look at this image, during takeoff:

wow, i would not wanna be sitting there...

Other than being loud and a bit windy, it's really not a big deal, there is a safety strap keeping you attached to the aircraft.

Might be a good idea to secure loose articles prior to takeoff, however. ;)

We used to train for this regularly, even before Desert Storm back in '90-'91.

Pucker factor of 10...

Helo pilots are crazier than fighter pilots any day. They scared the hell out of me when I was inside the helo! I'll get there on the MKI boot.. thanks :)
