Broke the wheel on take off, but wasted no time to ditch ordinance, and emergency land. And the ATC had the audacity to ask me to 'taxi to parking area'.. Skip to 6mins, if you don't wanna see the startup.

Just happened to me today while I started the "Hideout" mission. Went into the weeds to avoid a Humvee in the middle of the taxiway and heard a thud. No master warnings, except for the gear lever when I took off. Left main gear wouldn't retract. Jettisoned stores, came back around for an emergency landing.

ED needs to sort out the crash landing..

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Land it like a boss :megalol:

I love the look of your plane. It reminds me of Toothless from How to train your dragon.

Come to think of it, the A-10 does look a dragon. It even breathes fire..!

The Humvee moves. You're supposed to follow it from a runway.

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

I think it should start rolling when you leave the hangar. I'm gonna have a look at the mission. EDIT: Ought to be fine. When you reach the junction outside your hangar turn right and the HMMWV should activate.

My experience is when u use rudder to keep plane in the straight but don't pull back on the stick to lessen weight on the nose wheel, that'll happen. My question though is,does that happen in real life? (Plane taking off on breaking nose wheel?)

There is a bug where a tiny spot on the airstrip causes a collision with the landing gear. I haven't experienced it since a few patches ago but it's likely to assume that they haven't gotten all of them

I just tried a 100% load pushing the nose down as I take-off. Hit 200 knots before I left the runway, nosewheel was fine. Regardless, when you are below stall speed with a positive AOA and the engines at the rear of the aircraft, it's going to push the nose down. It shouldn't be there if it's not built to take it

I thought the procedure with a damaged A-10 was to drop stores and land with the gear up? Not to drop mains and let it sink onto the nose as you slow down. Would have thought that causes more damage than landing gear up and scraping the belly a bit

I landed without wheels b4, think in su25T, and from touch down there's no control, and if you spin off the runway you can be in big trouble, and can flip.

As you see in this one, i was able to control my run down the runway precisely, up until i dropped the nose, which was around 60 knots. So that worked good for me, and i still had some control with the wheels. Dunno how it would be done in RL, but i expect the safety of the pilot would be paramount. Remember also that the part of the nose which hits the ground is gonna be a fairly hefty lump of steel structure (the gun) which is unlikely to go anywhere at that speed, so i figure that the fuselage is unlikely to fracture.

I'm curious about the lack of master warnings. Wouldn't complete, violent removal of the gear (which would cause immense damage to the airframe, mind you) cause whichever hydro system is feeding it to empty itself in pretty short order?

Funny you should mention it - I finally got my computer working and am learning how to fly all over again. Took two hits from an SA-9 I didn't see (one was a glancing blow, hit my flares at the last second), knocked out almost *everything*. I dropped all my munitions and gassed it, and a second later my left engine exploded. CDU, CADC, Pitot pressure, static pressure, RALT, all out of commission. Massive rudder damage and asymmetrical thrust had me with the yaw trim dialed almost all the way. Started losing fuel in my tanks quickly (right moreso than the left) so I switched to drain from the right to get as much fuel out of it as I could. Switched to HARS for some basic flight data, found the nearest airfield thanks to my handy print-out charts... I flew in a basic approach and dropped landing gears, not even sure if they would work... well, they did, but the tires were missing on all three - not blown, just *missing*. Ended in funny little stumps. Took the gears back up, dropped flaps all the way and bled as much speed as possible, landed a picture-perfect belly landing (with a surprising amount of control with my one functional rudder). Immediately cut the engine, fuelflow, and power, and popped the lid to egress. As I watched outside... once hydro pressure took a dump, the nose gear flopped open in a comical fashion :) I guess hydro pressure was the only thing keeping it up...

Honestly, my favorite part of this game is when everything goes completely tits-up.
