Toni Carrera Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I purchased and downloaded A-10 yesterday. I am going through the tutorial, specfically the Startup one and I can't get the engines to start. I am following all the istructions & switches as I go but they will not spin up. I have tried with both the keyboard commands (Right Ctrl & Home) or whatever it was and I also have a Saitek X52-Pro and the and both the profile that is on the DCS site applied as well as trying the Saitek one I downloaded from their website. I desperatly want to use this Sim as I love all the procedures etc for startup but if I can't get the damn engines to start I ain't going no where. ED Team BIGNEWY Posted March 21, 2012 ED Team Posted March 21, 2012 double check your throttles are all the way off on your stick before starting, sometimes if the throttles on your stick are spiking it can cause problems ( check them in windows properties ) Forum rules - DCS Crashing? 159th_Viper Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Also insofar as the startup is concerned: 1 - Make 100% sure you throttles are at idle. Calibrate if necessary. Tiny amount of input from idle will result in a non-start. 2 - Remap the engine start and engine stop inputs to a single keypress (Numarrow keys are spare). astrospud Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 As above, but also this: I would suggest not using the Saitek SST profile just yet. Leave it blank, as it might conflict with in-game mapping in unusual ways, not immediately obvious. Rectum non bustus
Toni Carrera Posted March 21, 2012 Author Posted March 21, 2012 Thanks for all the responses so quickly. I will share the track file when I get home if someone can tell me what I am looking for. ErichVon Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 (edited) I purchased and downloaded A-10 yesterday. Thanks Toni What really messed me up was eventually realizing that the game comes with presets already mapped. I had to find the folder that was causing the conflict, set it aside and remap it, but 1st, I cleared all the presets in Options/Controls and in my case, full sim mode. It took me a month that and setting up my controllers. Make sure your joystick throttle or separate throttle(s) controller(s) are all the way back. That sure got me scratching my head once. I have CH Products gear. I first calibrate in Windows, then load up the CH_Manager and then calibrate my setup within that. Just getting setup is rather intense. There is a proper sequence of plugging in the controllers, which off hand I have forgotten, but it is in my notes. The cheat offline is Right Windows key + the Home key will start the process to completion, sit back, and watch. If that is not working I would say something is wrong in your setup. Toni Carrera Posted March 23, 2012 Author Posted March 23, 2012 I took of the Saitek profile that I was applying which allowed me to move the engines to Idle via the mouse. Finally I got the engines up and running. Just need to find the Ramp Startup quick start key combination so I can at least get into learning about flight controls etc. I am no N00b to planes as I have flown around the world in FSX but I am now looking for a little something extra Thanks for all your advice on here. Kindest Regards Toni You will love this A-10C. It has everything FSX has in an aircraft, plus combat, except the extensive scenery. There is not much dogfighting, though, but FSX has none. I tried PM'ing you, but not sure you got it; so...
