Kuky Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Hey, Nevada will be new terrain and new terrain engine. If I'm assuming this correct what GG is hinting is that Edge terrain engine which is in the works might actually be coded to run on separate core/thread? GGTharos Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 I'll explain what I mean then: ED has been marching forward with developments in FM, aircraft, ME capability, sound engine, update to graphics engine to name a few, and that's stuff you've seen. I won't enumerate everything, there's more in there. Because none of this is your pet peeves, you see stagnation, at the same time ignoring things that have been announced: The Nevada terrain which should also bring EDGE with it, more ME development, more FM development, more development of stuff we can't tell you about, either. So yeah - your pet peeves are blinding you to reality, or more bluntly said, just because the things you want to see done haven't been done yet, you claim there's stagnation. That's incorrect - there is no stagnation, stuff just doesn't have to follow your schedule or address your pet peeves. Not really sure what you mean by this - I have seen multiple comments re stagnation. The same scenery for how long? In fact I'm not even sure...How long have we been using this map and texturing? I understand that it was expanded slightly, but ultimately how long have we been flying the same bit of Georgian coast? Conure Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Given your general feel, you mean. Why don't you leave the running of the ED/TFC business to ED/TFC. They seem to be doing all-right to date. Oh wait, I said that at the beginning of this conversation, did I not......Go figure! I doubt that you have any clue how they're doing financially (again, on the commercial side of things) other than the fact they're still solvent (unless they produce quarterly reports to internet forum moderators:lol:) - I would judge given the projections for projects that they would previously give (Nevada at release ring any bells?) and their utter inability to meet such projections and, additionally, requirements of modern technology, that they either can't afford man power, or can't effectively project manage. And yes you did say it at the beginning of the conversation, and all facts would point to the fact you're most likely still wrong! In fact I'd go so far as to have that using the data available, to presume ED are doing all-right would be the best you could derive from it. Unless of course you think a lack of material and slowly released minor upgrades (cockpit shadows in BS?) are the sign of a high powered, dedicated and effective commercial studio. I expect given how niche this title is, their military side is propping up the commercial side. Not producing effective deadlines, much less being able to work to deadlines is not good business practice. When effective competition comes out (and I sincerely hope it does), ED will have to start making and keeping promises to customers. I wonder if they're up to it? You're right. The game is stagnant. ED isn't developing any new aircraft, any new maps, any new gameplay elements, they haven't updated the .exe to include 64 bit support, and they have stated no intention or progress in moving towards multicore support. Also, the size of the Caucuses theater has never been extended. The mission editor has never been improved either, and there has been no progress towards moving towards more dynamic/random missions/campaigns. I follow the development of many games and posts like these do so much damage for every other quiet, patient user/fan out there. Statements like these are why we have to wait for months on end with no information because the developers are afraid to even hint at what might be coming our way. Wow, attitudes like yours is why we never get updates from ED on future releases until they are just about to release. :no_sad: I stated eight things, of which, six have already been completed/worked on within the last year or two, and are present in the current version of A-10C, and the other two I already played with, in A-10C beta, but ED removed them before A-10C was officially released, and these two elements are now nearing release in a significantly improved form. Basically, it would be a good idea to learn what you are talking about before you open your mouth. GGTharos Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 You should have looked it up ;) = ... assignment, ie x = 3 does not mean 'x equals 3' it means 'I now make the value of of x to be 3' == ... equals. x == 3, a logical question, evaluates to true or false (see the difference with the above?) != ... does not equal. Another logical question, evaluates to true or false This comes from programming languages mostly. Colloquially, just as we do in math, we use = to represent both the = above and ==.
