Hey all,

Had a break from DCS due to RL stuff and unfortunately I came back to a dead mobo. Anyway I bought a temporary one which is micro, cheap and will not overclock. I'll get a Sandybridge in a few months but til then I'm stuck with...

core i5 760 @ 2.8ghz

4gb ddr 3 ram

gtx 560ti

I know the PMDG ngx is unplayable at this clock speed (more to do with FSX being a wreck) but anyway, is it worth the reinstall and heading to my other flat to pick up all my sim gear (good few hours drive) or shall I just wait it out a few months when I upgrade?

Cheers

hi,

don't wait for any upgrades!

Everyday not flyin DCS is a lost day!

Everyday is training day!

I'm flyin with the A-10 now for one year and still learning.

Im a fsx guy with tons of hours using pmdg for years, but forget it all, a plane without mavericks is NOT a plane worth to fly. I also got similar config and have no probs so far.

best regards

Longi

Anybody else here running on a puny 2,8ghz core i5? I know the recommened reqs are below this but most people tend to OC to 4ghz for this!

Is your serial also in the other flat? If not, just install and see if it runs - no need for all the extra SIM gear just for a quick test.

That said, I'm pretty sure you'll be OK with the 2.8, especially if you want to get up to speed and not worry about huge missions and the like.

I used to have that cpu - are you unable to OC it? I think they get to 3ghz without too much of an issue usually but I presume given your time on the forums you're well aware of that!

yes, on a laptop, and this is my main dish... I've practically uninstalled everything except A-10c for running smoothly at mid settings. With that being said, I'm saving for a proper rig, a proper hotas, and a proper rudder. probably will take 2 years or so to get in the midst of all the shit that is going on, the crumbling economy, etc... But, I maintain my lappy every 2 weeks.
