At present the TrkIr 6dof azimuth limits are Linda Blareish with 270 degrees of head rotation possible in azimuth. A more practicable limit would be 190 degrees.

In pitch at present you can pitch the head close on 180degrees. In pitch a limit of around 80 degrees would imo be closer to human head neck mobility.

I think it should be restricted in all titles to reproduce human neck limitations :)

A neat enhancement would be to also educe head slew rates as a function of G simulating the difficulty in moving ones head under G.

Your ability to look around is not limited to just the range of motion provided by moving your neck. Look over your shoulder while driving and see what muscles you use.

yeah, moving your neck and shoulder gives you almost 360º of rotation,190 degrees seems too little for me.

The one thing to keep in mind is that a WWII fighter pilot was supposed to be strapped in fairly securely (which saved many a pilot, from what I have read) which would limit shoulder movement to some extent.

I just have no idea to what degree this would have been a factor.

Agree....I have spent a fair portion of my life moving neck and body under G :), thats why I consider 190degrees of azimuth a reasonable starting point.

If you want to allow for Gs then your range would be variable depending on the situation which opens up all sorts of other issues relating to what controls you can reach under what circumstances (you only have two hands too)!

If someone wishes to limit their view by that much it should not be hard to do in the lua files (if they are similar to prior products).

To me it is not a significant issue either way.

Besides moving your neck, you can also move your eyes (duh), which extends the "view range".

Well if you are strapped into the seat you can't move much, your head and eyes are limited, head movement is way less than 90°, it's more like 70°... add to that moving your eyes and bit of peripherial vision and you just be able to see behind you... but as IvanK said (he knows what he's talking about) doing this under heavy G is not that easy so I agree limiting the head movement to be reduced and if they can vary this limit by the amound of G you are pulling that would be even better

Cichlidfan you said : "If you want to allow for Gs then your range would be variable depending on the situation which opens up all sorts of other issues relating to what controls you can reach under what circumstances (you only have two hands too)!"

I agree and only having 2 hands is a good point as well. CLOD has its anthropomorphic setting that limits how many things you can do at once simulating the human condition/limitation of only having 2 hands.

Which is also why restricting head motion would be a bad idea. 190 deg is great and all, because that's what your neck and shoulders might do ... but you can do more, and that's demonstrated in various vids from RL.

Further, you cannot feel the G's as a sim pilot, so you cannot even modulate enough to save yourself from g-lock, never mind insane nuissance of it having an effect on your TIR motion.

NO No and NO! - I can just imagine all the bug reports.
