I agree with Yo-Yo. I've been an FFB user for a few years. I was sold on it from a description of how the stick responds to bouncing over tufts of grass in Rise of Flight. That's neat. But the rest is not. The stick is not the place to turn to for non-visual cues. I like the stall warning but that, and other vibrating events, would be much better implemented through the seat rather than the stick. Having said that, version 1.2 handles FFB very nicely, IMO.

Stick shakes too because of airflow disturbancies over empennage. That's why you have both effects in DCS.

Just got a G940. Still working out the bugs but I think I have it down for the most part. It shakes great when approaching stall but not when I fire the gun. What is the best setting I should use to experience that?

Here is a example why you don't want Gun-shaking at your stick:

Yes I know it does. And my post was in support for your position, not against it. But having taught thousands of stalls and spins in a dozen of different types I feel comfortable in saying that generally you will feel much more airframe buffeting than stick shaking during a stall. On most planes you will be hard pressed to feel anything in the stick since the disturbed flow off the stab to the elevator is weaker than the force holding the elevator (ie, you). However, since most of us dont own a buttkicker, sending these cues to the stick is a good alternative.

PeterP,

Thanks for the input, you are right I had to re-read post #23 when I first read it I read "I am sure the stick must shake when firing"... and completely over looked the "not" my mistake.

I like your idea of adding it to the FF Tune menu, but couldn't ED also make the plane "shake" a little like it does "in start-up"? I have fired a .50 cal in the Army and they do have quite a bit of recoil. The vehicle mount absorbed most of it though. What I am thinking of when I say "shake" is like the old gun camera footage more of a vibration then a shake...

The FFB works great.. I never was a fan of the gunshake.. but the stick forces can't be beat.. especially in the MSFFB2 .. FFB does stuff no spring can do.

Yeah the stall shake is VERY valuable, But I still would love a little vibrate when getting hit or shooting. just a little. Im still trying to justify the Buttkicker.

Hi guys, I know this is an old post, but I have a G940 and I see no gun shaking. Which option is this? Because I can only access the FFB menu through pitch / roll / rudder controls, and there is no gun option, just Trimmer and Shake. I cannot find a general FFB menu.

Cheers,

Hi Folks,

I find FF works great in DCS. I have a Saitek Cybog Evo Force Feedback joystick (with my own stock of half a dozen second-hand spare sticks in the cupboard ready to go), a FF Gametrix Jet-Seat and a FF Audio FX headset. The immersion is great and I can only imagine what this would be like with Oculus Rift as well!

Thank you DCS for giving us FF :) :joystick:

Happy landings,

Talisman

P.S. I find FF joystick helps me fly faster, optimise trim better, fly more accurately and sense a feeling of flying through atmosphere, rather than a vacuum.

Do you have FFB on the P-51 guns? All the WWII birds for that matter. I am trying to find where is the setup.
