No, and no, Track IR is in the pipeline though.

the format is F2P, a single training mode has been asked for many times (because we get alot of friendly fire due to weapon tests as soon as each session beggins), but not implemented yet.

So far we only get 8VS8 capture the base game mode. But we will get 12VS12 soon, advanced capture, team death match and dropship modes, more maps and more weapon configuration friendly mechs.

We got 9 mech with 31 variants, all of them are not really nothing special, all the most interesting ones are yet to be released.

The gameplay is somewhat different from classics like MW2 and MW3. For example the classics had long open flat worlds with occasional hills and buildings. We got now, beautifully rendered lumpy terrain and full blown rendered cities. Some people complain the maps are small, I just say its because the engine is different, everything feels scaled differently.

The game has lots of promise judging from what I saw. It lacks nothing in complexity compared to the classics.

Awsome FX, love the impact glows, the arms aim independently from the torso, this is something unique and very very cool. :)

Some weapons also work differently. Each game the coders have interpreted the table top battletech differently. For example, the PPC's used to be slow moving balls of light. They are now very fast moving thunbderbolts. The gauss cannon is the most popular weapon, it fires very potent rounds at high speed but takes longer to refire.

The LBX cannon is no longer a rapid fire heavy machine gun but rather a scatter shot gun. Same for Autocannons, they fire like normal tank rounds. the ultra AC5 fires only 2 rounds at a time, all others are single rounds. The SRM's no longer fire a trail of rocks, they all fire at the same time, it causes major desorientation as the cockpit is rocked and obscured in explosions.

All in all excellent so far despite numerous bugs. Yes we got a long ways to go yet.

Not the biggest fan of F2P games, even though I feel like I've tried them all! But this one in my eyes has always had the most potential, can't wait for it to be released to the public! Anyone have an idea of when it's going to be released?

And on a side note, last night I saw another F2P Mech game being released later this year, Hawken, which visually might be better than MechWarrior, but I'm excited to try both :)

it was supposed to become open beta last month but cant take much longer now they lifted NDA. Give it a chance its well worth it. Also, dont let defeats bruise your ego, its VERY hard to get a kill. USe team play and forget kill scores. you can get points rewards in many ways other than kills.

I usually test games for quite a bit even if I keep dying until I give it my full verdict. I thought I had created an account a while ago, but apparently not, so I just signed up and hopefully I might get a beta key soon?

You will if you pay. But if you dont, you will have to wait a lil longer.

I kind of figured as one of the questions directly asked if I was planning on purchasing the founders pack and I couldn't lie lol. Not in the budget right now

I received weeks ago an email saying that I was chosen to test the closed BETA.

I was :D

Then after a couples of minutes, I received a newer email saying it was an error and I'm not in the BETA....

I was

Then I re-received an email saying that as part of their apology for their mistake, I'll be able to play the BETA

I was :rotflmao:

Visually yea it's gorgeous. But it moves around quite a bit quicker than what Mech Warrior Online has sort of setup for their earlier release, so it'll be interesting to see how they both compete after their releases

Hawken is a cod-like game, while MWO is very close to the old episodes of the series. Mechs in MW are slow and huge, they can't run around like gundam.

However, if you would like a fast striker take a Jenner-D, mount and XL300, 4x SL, 2x SSRM, JJ and bring some havoc.

My nick is "red devil2", you can find me in the Italian section of the unofficial TS server (when I'm now in DCS, obv :) ). See you in game!

ps: as you now MWO is still in β and features like the DFA (Death From Above) and an accurate phisics haven't been implemented yet. Therefore you can really "stack" mechs sometimes. Yesterday we have created the CatAtlas, 165 tons of pure awesomeness!! :D

Howken is like HAWX, no more than a shootemup. MWO is complex and tactically more intricate. You will feel like driving a multi ton monster death machine not a cheesy battle suit. Its really a sci fi tank simulator. Plus you can custumize each mech, each has its limitations and advantages. You also can get special abilities unlocked when you earn points. You dont even have to open fire to get points. By assisting your team mates spotting targets for them over datalink you also get points.

Driving the biggest mech no longer garauntees your saftey over lighter ones. The Scout mech often are found outmanuevering and killing assault ones when they are left unescorted. This is really a team play effort. The team that doesnt support each other, is often dispatched quickly.

Lol, it's funny you say that, b/c i was just looking for a game to play on Xbox and said to myself; "I haven't played HAWX in a while..." but can't ever or anymore since picking up DCS

On a side note, real question for those who have played the beta of MWO. Do you know/think when the game will be released it will fit into the category of F2P games of being a "pay-to-win" meaning unless you fork over cash you're not going to stand against the free account holders?

IMO that's one of the largest factors of how well a f2p does is how balanced or unbalanced it is.

The cockpit design from Howken looks a lot better than MWO. It makes you feel like you're in a war machine cockpit rather than a star cruiser. The mechs and pits in MWO look like they were designed by Saitek.

Only impatient unskilled people will fork out the cash to win. You can earn virtual money, indeed you can exchange points for virtual money to buy game content. The only downside from playing for free is that itll take longer for that than founders. Ohterwise, you dont even need to spend a dime on it.

That sounds awesome, I'm definitely one that can devote some time to battle it out to ear some $$$. I'll just have to limit my time b/c I always find I unlock a ton of stuff during betas, then the game comes out (and I start over) and don't have the desire to get everything back again lol. And you were right Pilotasso - just got selected for the beta this morning :D

Anyone in the beta? NDA has been lifted so I might post some videos!

The cockpit actually looks awesome if you set your FOV to 85 degrees or so, allowing you to see what is around the glass. It gives you a disadvantage but it makes you feel like a mechwarrior.
