simtex Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 Dedicated Server Dear ED, would you provide us with an dedicated server for DCS:World, please? I think that this would give the whole DCS community (say: customers) a noteable boost. And while you're at it please consider the following: the server should not required a license/activation. Since every player joining the server will need one I think that would be ok, don't you think? Make it run on Linux. There are far more (affordable) Linux servers out there running linux than windows servers. and maybe you could improve the multiplayer server browser in the DCS:World client a bit Thanks!
overpro Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 well, DCSW 1.2.0 is released but I'm still not able to use command line to bring up a multiplayer server: bin\dcs.exe -net "some mission.miz" by executing the above command dcs.exe will halt at last. in task manager you can see cpu utilization is 0% overpro = I'm not good at Nintendo Mario and always get "Game over" pretty fast, so over~~pro
sereupin Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 1.2.8 is near, but still waiting for a dedicated server.. any news? thanks!
ED Team NineLine Posted April 5, 2014 Author ED Team Posted April 5, 2014 It's dependent on EDGE, we probably wont hear anything till after EDGE is released Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
Abburo Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 (edited) Any chance that future EDGE dedicated server to be WINE compatible? This feature might encourage some of us to host 24/7 servers at a lower cost. Also is more easier and cheaper to find Linux machine to rent on an ISP then an Windows one. A linux dedicated server might be even better... but let's have them one by one Edited June 28, 2014 by Abburo Romanian Community for DCS World HW Specs: AMD 7900X, 64GB RAM, RTX 4090, HOTAS Virpil, MFG, CLS-E, custom
dooom Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Just curious - why is it dependant on edge? ASUS Tuf Gaming Pro x570 / AMD Ryzen 7 5800X @ 3.8 / XFX Radeon 6900 XT / 64 GB DDR4 3200 "This was not in the Manual I did not read", cried the Noob" - BMBM, WWIIOL
Insanatrix Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Possibly because a dedicated server would operate without render output so maybe since they are working on a new graphics engine they might write it so that the base engine can function without render output and alleviate the need for a GPU?
Abburo Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 It has absolutely no relevance now why a dedicated server did not exists until EDGE. So, let's focus to future and maybe an agnostic DCS server will be born. Romanian Community for DCS World HW Specs: AMD 7900X, 64GB RAM, RTX 4090, HOTAS Virpil, MFG, CLS-E, custom
