Do you mean simply changing what skin is used on your aircraft in a mission? You can find that in the mission editor. Have a plane selected, then click on the small square icon that brings you to payload.(Located around the right side of the screen, and about middle-ish height, there is a row of them). Now all you have to do is select what skin you want to use in the drop down menu located near the bottom right. (Unfortunately you will not actually be able to view the skin)

If you want to actually know how to create your own skins and put them in DCS, I can explain that too in a longer post.

Thank you for the response. I am asking about setting my default skin though, how do I change that?

Like this what I did with the default 104th FS Maryland ANG, Baltimore (MD) skin. You have to do this to the "description.lua" in each folder for the skin you like to change to your own. BUT! Do not just copy the same "description.lua" to all folders as the "countries" may be different!

EDIT: Also make sure all your skin files resides inside the A-10.zip file in "..\Bazar\World\textures\A-10.zip". The same goes for the P-51D

livery = {
{"A-10C_PAINT_1-a", 0 ,"A-10C_138greenJack_1-a",true};
{"A-10C_PAINT_1-b", 0 ,"a-10c_138green_F-b",true};
{"A-10C_PAINT_1-c", 0 ,"a-10c_138green_F-c",true};
{"A-10C_PAINT_1-d", 0 ,"a-10c_138green_F-d",true};
{"A-10C_PAINT_1-e", 0 ,"a-10c_138green_F-e",true};
{"A-10C_PAINT_1-f", 0 ,"a-10c_138green_F-f",true};
{"A-10C_PAINT_1-g", 0 ,"a-10c_138green_F-g",true};
{"A-10C_PAINT_1-h", 0 ,"a-10c_138green_F-h",true};
{"A-10C_PAINT_1-i", 0 ,"a-10c_138green_F-i",true};
{"A-10C_PAINT_1-j", 0 ,"a-10c_138green_F-j",true};
{"A-10C_PAINT_1-k", 0 ,"a-10c_138green_F-k",true};
{"A-10C_PAINT_1-L", 0 ,"a-10c_138green_F-l",true};
{"A-10_Number", 0 ,"TactNumbers-USAF-Light_black.tga",true};
{"A-10_Number_Noze_F", 0 ,"TactNumbers-USAF-Light_black.tga",true};
{"A-10_Number_Noze_T", 0 ,"TactNumbers-USAF-Light_black.tga",true};
{"A-10_Number_Wheel", 0 ,"TactNumbers-USAF-Light_black.tga",true};
}
countries = {"USA"}

Additionally, it appears you can just leave the texture files within the specific folder of the livery you are creating without having to edit the graphics.cfg.

This is certainly the way to go in my opinion .

A long long time ago I asked ED to implement personal skins as part of the pilot log settings. There were some comments as it looked interesting from someone at ED's but never seen anything in that direction. I would like an option to set personal skins for all aircrafts for summer and winter skins. So please add "personal skin" as an option ;)

Just yesterday I changed the poor Su33 skins...most went into temptextures as bmp and worked fine...a couple were added to WorldTexturesBMP1.zip and all are much more detailed than the poor stock ones...so I am happier now:thumbup:

I am new and totally clueless !!! I downloaded a bunch of skins and put them into the

Bazar/liveries/p-51 area, but I have no clue how to get DCS to allow me to change

from one skin to another. I see what was written above about true and false

but I need some better info as to what it is I can do as I already have the skins

and did not think I needed a template or whatever ??? HELP

To use the skins once you have added them into the bazar/liveries/(aircraft) folder for that particular airframe, all you need to do is look under the relevant nationality in the mission planner, and go to the weapons page. There, you will see a drop down list of all the available skins for the selected nationality. Simply select the skin you want to use there, and run the mission.

If you want to always use that skin with that mission, just re-save the mission, and the selected skin will always be used when you select that particular mission.

question or dilemma

I have a mission up for our squad in MP and everyone has their own skin I can jump into anyones plane and see that particular skin... then last night I had one of my players DL a skin that already exists in the server and on everyones system but his since he is new... he joins the server he is in the default Valhallah skin???

my first question to him is did you put it in the right place?? he says yes so i tell him to go out and return...default skin again..and not just to his vision everyones in the server he is in default skin

So again i have others get in his plane and we all see it as the chosen skin for that pilot everyone in the game can fly that skin as we all have them downloaded..

Ok let me in with teamview evidently it is in the wrong place I go to ED/Dcs/Bzr/Liveries/p51D and the file is unzipped and present right where it is supposed to be (WTH)he has no steam download he is clean DCS..

We go back and start the server clean.... everybody out OK .....server back up OK....everybody in same result I am perplexed to say the least anyone help please
