I'm actually tempted by this one.

Well the 680 goes through DCS like a warm knife through butter. Looking how the performance is close on both, it seem like a good purchase if you want above 40 frame rates maxed out.

My 570 works flawlessly with A-10C, dont know why anyone would want overkill like that...

Doesn't matter what you have, you will always want more

For future proof?

For me, I want to play it in 3D. Effectively my fps is divided by 2, so that extra bit of smoothness helps a lot.

Phantom88, I'd say no.

Too bad we got to pay almost the same price though

I think it might finally be time for me to upgrade the GTX295 war horse :) . I can get another 670 for SLI then in 6 months or so (I do like SLI). I'm not sure how much DCS may benefit though, my CPU will still probably hold me back. But, all that ram on the 670 might help with stuttering?

I picked up the 680 last month. Making sure I have something to keep up with the future F-18 hornet. :)

I thought I saw the same. The 7970 has more ram to give it a boost with 3 monitors. They now also have a 4 gig 680 which grabs that title. The 690 though is a beast.

Well, there is no such thing as a 690 "GPU". Fastest _card_ though, possibly.

Remains to be seen what the 7990 ends up giving, but judging by the numbers for 7970's in CF I suspect the 690 will still be the faster card. Expect prices to be adjusted on the AMD side in the near future. :)

However, 7970's in CF do actually put up a pretty good fight in some games:

I like ATI but given nvidia now does 3 screens on one card I would be tempted to move as ati never seemed to do as good a job as nvidia on a number of sims.

thats if nvidia start putting more ram on board and actually beating wit with three screens. I have not checked out the 680 4gb tests yet.

Should I upgrade from my current

ASUS ROG MATRIX GTX 580 Platinum

?

Only if you want to waste money. I don't expect there to be many cases where the "upgrade" gains you much of anything at all.

Thats a good card.

If you're running fine then stick with it unless you want to jump to the 680 or 690.
