Hi Guys, i must have this on the training but where do i check how much ammo i have? also i think i know where the fuel gauge is (under the right leg, under the sit itself) am i right? the reason i ask is because on the campaign and training the gauge is static so i don't know if it's because the missions are set to unlimited ammo and gas or what, thanks in advance

There is no rounds counter in the cockpit.

A fuel gauge is connected to each main tank and the fuselage tank. The fuel gauges for the main (wing) tanks are located on the cockpit floor on either side of the seat. The fuel gauge for the fuselage tank is located behind the seat on the pilot's left side.

Reason it is static is because you are not using fuel from that tank. Look under your left leg - almost sure it defaults first to left wing tank.

As there are no fuel gauges for the external tanks, I am wondering what the procedure was when running on the drop tanks? I've read that they would burn the fuselage tank first and then switch to drop tanks which could be jettisoned if required for dogfighting. If running on the drop tanks how would the pilot know when to switch to main tanks? Time? Lack of noise? What? :book:

I'd like to know where they all went. Parts of Europe should be covered with them.:D

They were biodegradable. Made of paper. One use. Non strategic material. Lighter than metal.

"The British also made their own contribution to the range problem in the form of a new drop tank that accommodated 409 liters (108 US gallons) and which was made of plastic-impregnated paper. This sounds a little crazy, particularly since the fuel would rot the tank if left in it for more than eight hours. Nonetheless, the paper drop tanks were perfectly effective, and were lighter and cheaper than metal drop tanks. Dropping them over German territory also did not provide the enemy with aluminum they could scavenge for their own war effort. Production rates of the paper drop tanks eventually reached 24,000 a month."

I guess the famous-by-now engine sputter and spool down in flight is a major

Cool, did not know that. That better explains a mission report I read where a group of P-51s 'bombed' a train with, not empty, wing tanks and then set it on fire with incindiary ammo.

They would use most of the fuselage tank.. at least a third to half of it then go to the externals then each wing gradually for balance. There was no gauge for the externalsyou had to calculate by time/distance or wait till your engine started to tell you from what I have been told and have read.

You may use a, "Cheat," to check your ammo. I believe that you can hit, LALT+ ' to check your ammo. MJ

P.S. In multiplayer, I check my ammo by pulling the trigger, if stuff comes out, I am good, if stuff does not come out, I get to practice defensive dogfighting, while I try to weasel my way back to base.
