As I mentioned in another thread, I'm a new Hog owner. Now, I've realised that it's basically plug and play together with DCS A10-C. However, are there any switches which are unmapped stock that I should assign?

A related question: where do you guys map your zoom function?

Thanks!

There are some that you can use.

i hope you ve looked if you have the latest firware for Joy and Throttle and latest version of TARGET.

If not it should be your priority N1

Then check target to see unasigned position.

I m at office now, but the thumb 4way above Airbrake have at least 2 positions, free people usually get steam speak PTT there.

HaF 922, Asus rampage extreme 3 gene, I7 950 with Noctua D14, MSI gtx 460 hawk, G skill 1600 8gb, 1.5 giga samsung HD.

Track IR 5, Hall sensed Cougar, Hall sensed TM RCS TM Warthog(2283), TM MFD, Saitek pro combat rudder, Cougar MFD.

Thanks! Yep, firmware is updated (to versions 11 and 20, which I believe to be the latest.

That be the mic switch then.

The Z axis and Mic up are the only 2* non assigned switches.

By deafult the Trim is POV.

@Succellus

It's ...

...least 2 positions free, people....

*EDIT. the 3rd is what BIGNEWY said. The grey thing by the throttles.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

I use my incr - decr grey axis on the right of my throttle as zoom :)

That's what I do, yoo. Great use for it!

If you have TIR that's what it ought to be as you'll need to trim often.

Thanks for the replies. After finding that setting the LED brightness to either 0 or full cures the fake friction slider of its jittery behaviour, that's where I mapped the zoom too. :)

Now a TIR related question: I've mapped the pinky lever on the stick to TIR center. However, it seems that the TIR5 software cannot distinguish between the pinky switch and mic switch forward on the throttles. It calls both these switches "joystick4". Anyone seen that before?

Yep. TIR does not discriminate device ids. If you had eight controllers all of them would have a "joystick4" that would get seen by TIR.

It doesn't know left shift from right shift either (most annoying actually).;)

I use the Slew control on the throttle for the TIR centering by pressing it in, works well.

That sucks of them. Very amateurish.

Regarding pressing the slew control: that's mapped as joystick 1, as is the gun trigger...

Another advantage to using Target. I have TIR commands set to keystroke combos and the Target script programs the button correctly.;)

I found the thread in this section on how to map both pause and centre to the same switch (long and short presses), and have now done that. Since it involves using a script mapping the pinky switch to F15 and F16, it gets around this problem.

Regarding the modifier thing -- maybe I'll do that in the future. I don't perceive any lack of available buttons at the moment.

OK, it's your choice. But after all the modifier thing is pretty handy. For example, I noticed that activating the night vision goggles and adjusting the goggle gain with keyboard was just a pain in the **s. With Pinky Paddle as a modifier and assigning certain buttons to control NVG totally saved my day.

As BigBlack already said, the Slew as well.

That's right!

Should give it a try.

It would annoy me to death. As the centre of the screen isn't on the gun pipper, I'd never be able to shoot anything :P
