Mt5_Roie Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 I'd like to fly the SU-25T in DCS World with my wing to provide SEAD. But I'm finding that doing conversions from metric to US (I believe called imperial) is a bit taxing. Is there any mod, or lau file to change it from metric? Coder - Oculus Rift Guy - Court Jester
104th_Crunch Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 (edited) Hi, none that I know of, and I doubt there are. Keep at it. Soon you won't have to convert. You will just get to know what metric values are. These give you estimates that are easy to do in your head. Really you don't need anything more. Speed: kilometers/hr divide by 2 = knot Altitude: meters multiply by 3 = feet Range: kilometers multiply by 2 = NM Speed: knot x 2 = KM/H Altitude: Feet / 3 =Meters Range: NM / 2 = KM Edited June 25, 2012 by Crunch 1
104th_Crunch Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 (edited) As I said the above will get you close. If you are a bit better with math in your head then here are the exact conversions Speed: kilometers/hr divide by 1.8 = knot Altitude: meters multiply by 3.28 = feet Range: kilometers multiply by 1.8 = NM the other way around Speed: knot x 0.54 = KM/H Altitude: Feet x 0.3 = Meters Range: kilometers x 0.54 = NM Edited June 25, 2012 by Crunch
ZMEY-HS- Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Speed: kilometers/hr divide by 1.6 = MPH Isn't speed supposed to be in knots?
104th_Crunch Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Isn't speed supposed to be in knots? Sure is. Thanks for the correction. I updated the posts
Mt5_Roie Posted July 4, 2012 Author Posted July 4, 2012 Thanks for the math guys. I've found it easier to hit F2 and look at the bottom of the screen to get my height and altitude. Coder - Oculus Rift Guy - Court Jester
joey45 Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Cheat.^ ;) The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Mt5_Roie Posted July 4, 2012 Author Posted July 4, 2012 I agree it's a cheat at this point, but easier then trying to do math and avoiding same firing at me. ;) Coder - Oculus Rift Guy - Court Jester
joey45 Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 (edited) unfortunately it is. do what I do and guess. from your first post in doing SEAD, you have a que on the left side of your HUD to know when to fire. Infact all weapons have a que to say when you can fire. Edited July 4, 2012 by joey45 The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. PeterP Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 (edited) ???? Cheat.^ ;) ??? Good gracious! How can translating metric into imperial considered as cheat?!!! :D (or have to use the f2 view to do this....) You also wouldn't call 'rolling rocks a hillside up your whole life' as "happy living" ... would you ?! ....:megalol: Edited July 4, 2012 by PeterP
