MaceUK Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Just bought CA and spent ages downloading DCS World (already have A-10 and BS) and now have no idea how I get to use the CA content. 159th_Viper Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Any tips how to get started? Assuming that you have CA installed, a good start would be to read the manual :) Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Click me to commence your Journey of Pillage and Plunder! mwd2 Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Read the short Manual (26 pages) and build a quick mission with some Bradley`s vs. BMP-1`s - and play. tobaschi Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 dont forget to also update DCS World, else you will have strange sideeffects like no "in-vehicle" view, or problems with selfcreated missions
Davidrdwr Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 I've been trying the single player missions in the \DCS World\Mods\tech\CombinedArms\Missions\EN\Single folder. Press F10, then click on a unit, if it is controllable click on the icon on the top toolbar. Also, I have been using F7 when a unit is selected to just observe the action. Have fun.

Stonehouse Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 From my point of view an easy way for me to play around with CA was to create a fast mission using the mission generator, edit it to add the CA roles like game master etc and then host it as LAN multiplayer game which then let you try CA out offline to get the hang of it. Cheers, Stonehouse
Bulletstop Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Can you not select this in single. I have had no luck controlling any vehicles at all. Bullet You can do it in psuedo SP by hosting a LAN game just for yourself and taking the game master role or any of the other roles although I have only played around with the game master and ground commander roles so can't say how the others work. My post a couple higher describes how you might try it out without a lot of effort. I was able to give orders and take over ground vehicles etc without any issues. When you add the CA roles to the mission just don't analyse the enemy movements and forces if you can avoid it and then things tend to be more of a surprise. If the fast mission generator could be updated to create a CA fast mission with selected CA roles available then you would get a random CA scenario with having to edit anything yourself. It'd be like a random battle generator. Cheers, Stonehouse
Bulletstop Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Stone, I do not have the newest version, I did not notice the complete versions had changed. So am downloading the update now and will see if that works. Thank you for the reply and will try that if this does not. Stonehouse Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 (edited) Actually the ground commander side seems to work even if you don't host it as a MP game. ie Run the mission straight from the mission generator and take the game master or ground commander role. Not sure about the aircraft though. <edit> you can do it without worrying about hosting a mp game I believe. Use the mission generator. Edit the mission to add the roles making sure that you pick pilot can control vehicles. For my example I had a P51 CAS flight and had the lead as player or client. Ran the mission and took the P51 flight. I found that once in cockpit I could go to the map and control ground vehicles. <endedit> Edited July 12, 2012 by Stonehouse
mrniel Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Actually single player works, but a few steps have to be taken. Trying to remember as i hav no access to game at writing moment. First use create quick mission. Set armor levels to other than 0. Activate mission editor, where you will see a auto generated battle layout. Click on the 2 small flage on the left side, that will open a small window on your right side where you can control how many roles can be filled. click on all on the right side blue but the top one, to play one side fek.s. blue. And pilot can control vehicle button also. You really don't want to be game master as you also could control enemy units then. When starting from mission editor by clicking the blue checkmark on left side. you will be given option to select role. When entering game, use F10 and select a vehicle by leftclicking on it, bradleys, humwees tanks ect. on your top left you will now see a small tank icon, click on it and presto you are controlling that vehicle. Now to drive it, you have to put it in gear by pressing x first, then W to go forward. Standart controls here, A + D to steer, W + S to accelerate and brake. Z + X to gear select. A bit of caution here, you'r view is always the turret view, so point the turret to where you want to go, then align the rest of the vehicle. all from memory, if anyone can follow this, i'm impressed. now i strongly recommend to activate fog of war in the main menu options, after trying this once to give a bit of challenge.
