Mt5_Roie Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Is anyone else having issues with USB monitors and DCS World not displaying on them? Seemed to work fine in the beta version but not the release version. Coder - Oculus Rift Guy - Court Jester
BHawthorne Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Many USB video adapters are not DirectX/OpeGL capable. It really depends upon the USB adapter you're using?
Mt5_Roie Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 Makes sense, but if they worked with the beta version using the DirectX/OpeGL why wouldn't they work in the release version? I would make sense if I got them recently and haven't tested them in the past - but I've been flying with the USB Monitors for about a year now. Coder - Oculus Rift Guy - Court Jester
zipdigital Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Unless I am missing something, your best bet is to connect with a DVI or HDMI cable to the monitor. If it is an older video card or monitor, a VGA cable is the next best bet. (With DVI adapter if needed.) I haven't really heard of a monitor powered by USB unless it is for some type of touch screen, commonly they are not the greatest image quality something like a flight sim...or any other game for that matter. zipdigital Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Wait, are we talking about your primary monitor that you control your computer with (viewscreen?) or an aftermarket sim product like the Thrustmaster cougar MFDs? "Sol" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron
Mt5_Roie Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 The monitors I'm using are two of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824185013 They worked great in the stand alone A-10C and in DCS World Beta. I was able to use both of them for MFD's. So it's not really a question of can they work, they have worked in the past for almost a year. The question is why did they stop working on the release version? Coder - Oculus Rift Guy - Court Jester
Mt5_Roie Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 Wait, are we talking about your primary monitor that you control your computer with (viewscreen?) or an aftermarket sim product like the Thrustmaster cougar MFDs? I have a normal HDMI monitor that's hooked to my computer that is my main. The usb monitors are behind the cougar MFD. Seen here: Coder - Oculus Rift Guy - Court Jester
zipdigital Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Quite the setup you have there! I'm jealous! As for the monitor issue, I am afraid I have not owned anything of the sort. To get everything to work right in the standalone versions did you have to edit any LUA scripts? or did it just work out of the box? If any editing was needed, things may have changed in DCS: World and need to be re-edited. Beyond that, I am at a loss. "Sol" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron
Mt5_Roie Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 The setup did require editing a LUA file which I used for both stand alone A-10C and DCS World Beta. My intial though was that they changed some of the names of the system, but that doesn't appear to be the case. Coder - Oculus Rift Guy - Court Jester
zipdigital Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Hmm, not sure what to suggest, then. Hopefully a more knowledgeable fellow will chime in... "Sol" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron
71st_Mastiff Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 (edited) My 3 USB monitors are working fine. I have the latest build of displaylink. Try uninstalling display link. reinstall them. Also more system info needed, like which motherboard, cpu, ram, video card I had had issues with the USB's before it turned out the USB power from the mother board wasn't enough the motherboard north bridge controller burred out. I had to buy a new one. Edited July 12, 2012 by Mastiff "any failure you meet, is never a defeat; merely a set up for a greater come back", W Forbes. Thought I just needed to dust my GPUs REAL bad. whew. yea power issue sounds like. try cycling the USB's, if one stays on and the other get problems then you have a USB power issue. zipdigital Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Are you in Windowed mode or full screen? Try toggling between the two? I noticed another user having trouble with USB MFDs and they had a problem with the "disable aero" button. Might be another thing to check, though possibly unrelated. 71st_Mastiff Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 windowed mode , does not work in full screen. "any failure you meet, is never a defeat; merely a set up for a greater come back", W Forbes. zipdigital Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 windowed mode , does not work in full screen. I'm glad you confirmed that Mastiff, perhaps that is Roiegat's problem. "Sol" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron
STRIKER Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 (edited) I'm having the same problem. I've tried windows/full screen modes. I've even reset the USB MIMO monitors during the game. The config files are good as well and my options for video are the same as before. I get the loading screen as normal in all the monitors but when the sim starts it freezes. I have no other ideas. ***UPDATE*** FIXED for me: It was the "Disable Aero Desktop" in the options screen. Edited July 14, 2012 by =STRIKER= [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
