I found out something concerning the auto turns:

It works when pressing DL Ingress and activating the autopilot. I have to press the button "R" on the keyboard "ENR NAV ON" to make sure that the heli is turning to the selected target. The heli makes a very steep turn to the target. In the video on this thread, the helicopters turn was very smooth. How can I achieve this?

Route mode is for enroute navigation. With a datalink in DL ingress the autopilot will navigate to the datalink. When you don't have a datalink in DL ingress the route mode will navigate to the selected waypoint in the PVI or will make your helicopter fly straight ahead if no waypoint or datalink is selected.

Auto-turn turns the heli to match skhval LOS and is much more usefull when used in a hover (it can be used in combination with hover mode). You can quickly aim your shots this way.

Excellent! Will try these target points when I get a chance. And of course, the targets on the PVI! I remember reading about it on the maual (and the INU fix) but I've never tried them (only briefly tried to correct a route point once with the shkval...)

Plenty of stuff to play with. Thanks so much!

If you are in a steady hover AtTT will make a smooth turn.

But, depending on your trim, the auto turn feature only have a certain amount of control authority. So if you're not trimmed correctly, it might not have enough 'force' to yaw the helicopter. It's just a matter of practicing. :)

And my advice is that you should only practice with one system at a time. So you don't get confused when you encounter conflicts. So leave route and descent mode off.

Start experimenting from a stable hover. Then add more challenges when you're confident about the targeting systems. It's a long learning curve, don't make it steeper then it has to be. I still learn every time I fly, and I've flown the shark since release.

Possibly the most important remark in the entire thread. :-)

Definitely true for me as well.

Yeah I really think that there are too much (unknown) buttons to press and I still mess something up. At the moment, trimming should not be the problem when trying the auto turn as I am currently using the game flight mode. If anyone is interested in giving me some advice on a server tomorrow, just PM me. I could set up a server and practise a bit.

Please notice that in many, if not most, missions the realistic flight mode is enforced for everyone.

No, but you can add target points. These points also appear on the ABRIS when selected in the PVI. When a target point is selected it will also automaticly turn the skhval on target. Notice that TGT point set in the ME could have wrong elevation data.

Tried this and it works a treat!

Many thanks!

I go on vacation next week. I plan to have an open Ka-50 training session that's free to join for everyone. I'll post more details in the multiplayer section later.

I finally got it!!! It was all my fault! I did not know there is a difference between the Game and the Sim Flight Mode. After I found out how to create a mission in Sim Mode (it's a little bit misleading in the mission options), the DL upload to the wingman works fine and also the auto turn function is now working as expected! The problem was that it does NOT work in game flight mode!

But there are still some questions left. Think they are easy to answer:

1.

I did not find out which button has to be assigned to switch weapons in the Sim Mode. Which button do I have to assign to switch between my weapons? :D

2.

After selecting and locking a target, it should be sufficent just to fire the selected weapon or is there anything else to take care of?

3.

I tried to tell my wingman to go to the DL target. He says "Copy" but flies somewhere else. If I uploaded more than one DL target to him, how can I tell him to engage/proceed to a specific target? Do I have to select it and press "DL ingress" to set it as active?

4.

My wingman does not engage the target. I was saving some fuel trucks at the airport as DL target and told the wingman to attack those targets but he always respond with "negative". Is this because those targets are not real targets but simple buildings, trucks etc?

Thanks for all your help! :)

the correct sequence:

1- lock target with shkval

2- engage laser rangefinder/designator

3- lock the target again to get his locked range

4- press desired unit type once square/diamond/etc..

5- target now on abris in your aircraft

6- to send target;

i) press locked target symbol on PrtZ DL - it flashes on abris

ii) select wanted wingmen (or all)

ii) select again the desired target - now flashing on abris as well as desired recipients 1/2/3/4

iv) send

If you did it correctly, radio attack datalink target. now they should attack that unit only.

wrong? the send mem button flashes either target already sent or error to send.
