...Still would like to know if real frog pilots had to "trim back to neutral" after disengaging AP or not...

:) We had this conversation with ED years ago. They assured us that they had both the written documentation and pilot input to support their modeling of the AP. I'll take their word for it.

I don't know how experienced you are with the -25T but you might find some of the video tutorials on my (now aged) website interesting and, perhaps, informative. They were made for Flaming Cliffs 1.5 but much concerning this aircraft's sim representation is still current. Clicking my signature will take you there. The Flight Basics, Air to Surface, Antiship, and Suppression of Air Defenses pages all have info concerning the -25T. If nothing else, I'm told that my tutorials were always enjoyable. :)

Thanks will check it out. I've been flying since the 25T was released on and off and just started flying it again in DCS World. Feels like a new sim.

Hi <((((><, (how do I pronounce it ?!:) - just Fish or a particular species?:))

Had some flying around in the Su-25T without FFB to see what you experience and where your problems are buried.

Gosh! It can be really tricky when you are not used to it to fly it without getting a haptic feedback of your trim!:P

First:

I discovered that the Su-25T don't shows a trim-diamond when you bring up the control-indicator...

That's a miss from ED - having it visible (like in the A-10) would make it much easier for everyone that has a in game view without the stick visible to know where they are heading... People are forced to always have the head down when disabling the AP.

Maybe this trim-diamond can be add for a next version?

(I didn't checked up to now - is this a reported issue? - should I open a Thread in the Bugs+problems section, so ED and testers are better aware of it ?)

-anyway-

Here is a Hot tip to not get lost after disengaging the AP ( - to be more clear: I'm not talking of the "A"-key. I'm talking of "LAlt+9") :

! in Genaral !: Please don't move your the stick while using any AP mode - this will force the AP to counteract your movement . And this makes this "trim-issue" even more worse when disengaging AP.

It is called "Auto-pilot" for a good reason! - and it's not "Auto-pilot and and I" ! - no need to take over control when the AP is in charge. :) - "auto" means really "automatic" and/or "autonomous" in this context - the AP is not designed to get "help" from you :) Right? - Right!

The tip:

Instead of disengaging the AP completely (As long your flight profile allows this and e.g. you are not already in a attack run...)

First switch to "Transition To Level Flight Control" >LAlt+3

This will bring your plane to a stable flight

and than disengage the AP by hitting LAlt+9.

So you don't have to fear to fight the trim.

Again:

Instead of just disengaging the AP instantly >

first use "Transition To Level Flight Control" LAlt+3.

Than disengage AP (after you have reached a stable level flight-condition).

So map this function (LAlt+3) somewhere you can always reach it instantly.

:)

Got it ?! -right!

Please try - and I'm confident that this procedure will save you from a lot of trouble.

Thank you Peter. You can just call me Fish. :)

After reading some responses here, transitioning to level AP then disengaging AP is what I'm doing and it works pretty well. The only thing is that I'm trying to get the 3 trim tab lights to go green before disengaging AP but the very top one doesn't go green even at level AP. Otherwise, this workaround does the job.

Thanks all for input!

Don't wait for it to go green :)

That's your pitch trim-light. It is very unlikely that you will have a flight where are you using only one pitch trim setting and/or that you want to have it neutral.

You have to re-trim your pitch very often to hold a level flight. - this depends highly on your speed and weight/drag.

:)
