Yes that's right guys and gals, after months of asking silly questions ref specs I should get for my next pc. She's finally here and built. Once Windows has finished upgrading then it's time for DCS world to move to its new home. :)

The specs I went for in the end were.

Coolermaster Storm Trooper Case,

Asus Sabertooth Z77 Motherboard,

Intel I5 3570K ( planning to o/c to 4.5ghz ),

Noctura NH-D14 CPU Cooler,

GTX 680 4GB ltd OC graphics card,

8 GB DDR3 1600MHZ Ram,

500GB seagate momentus xt Hybrid drive,

Seagate Barracude 2TB 7600 Hard Drive,

Seagate Barracude 1TB Hard Drive,

4 x Bitfenix Spectra Pro 120mm Fans,

2 x Coolermaster 120mm Fans,

1 x Bitfenix Spectra Pro 140mm Fan,

1 x coolermaster 200mm fan,

Bitfenix Hydra Pro Fan Controller.

All in think she's cost me around £1100, which I hope will be money very well spent. Thanks to all of you for your comments and advice over the last few months, I know I might have annoyed you all with my constant questions, but I do appreciate it. It's because of you all that I have this beast to fly with now. Thanks again.

Coolermaster trigger mechanical keyboard, Sentinal V2 mouse and Acer T231H touchscreen will also be added in next few months. :)

The 670 could have saved you about $100 bucks and it kicks butt in DCS A-10C and what else I have thrown at it. But no doubt you will have a blast with it!

i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED

That's True guys, however since I run at 5670 x 1080, I figured the extra 2gb VRAM, would come in useful. The reason I went for the hybrid, is as its as quick as the SSD drive, there was no reason to only have a 256gb Drive, could go for 500gb

That said I was going for an SSD right upto the last min, when I was advised by my computer engineer, that a hybrid would be the better choice.

He also knows, if he's made me chose the wrong item, then he will become closely associated with the drive sideways ;)

To be honest, if it is still a little slow, I'll just put a SSD in.

Hi Cowboy,

Very nice system. I am sure you will love it.

I would like to let you know that the recommendation that the Hybrid would be as good as an SSD was incorrect. I have used both. I believe you will find stuttering to be a problem using the hybrids for gaming. This is their problem. Obviously beyond this just 4GB of SSD (or even 8GB is not going to come close to giving you SSD level performance. The OS will boot faster and installations and app starts will be accelerated to some small degree (mostly loads for frequently used apps).

At any rate if you find like I did that the Hybrids are less then perfect for gaming you can always purchase and install an SSD later.

In any case very awesome system specs.

Best of luck and have fun!

Mmmm Bugger, was hoping you wouldn't say that. Looks like I'll be having some certain words with my it engineer when I see him next.

Ah well, guess I'll be adding an SSD drive next month then.

Should really learn to go with my gut feelings.

Hybrid drives do almost the same thing you could do since windows Vista using readyboost and a cheapo memory stick. It's just using it as a cache to accelerate frequently used apps. If you play DCSW a lot then most of the important parts of the game should end up on there. It's when theres something that isn't loaded into cache is where the stutter happens. You probably want to manually disable Superfetch and indexing with that drive also.

Ouch! :D

Speaking from experience, going straight from a HDD to 2 SSD's in raid0, everything seems to happen instantaneously. I get angry when some stubborn app takes more then a few seconds to load now

The specific problems found in the seagate momentus XT Hybrid 500GB drives were at the firmware level. Although many new firmware releases were provided since the problems were first reported, to the best of my knowledge the stuttering and sudden temporary system slowdown issues with these drives when used for gaming has never been solved.
