The work continues...

While our testers are busy testing out the first set of missions and Glowing_AMRAAM is shooting cutscenes for the campaign, we've been preparing a new User Interface appearance. The purpose of this will be to give LOMAC a sense of story that it was missing before, and would have been importnat because it only has a linear campaign engine.

The new menu apperance will seek to reinforce that sense of background and involvement in the campaign.

Here are some shots of work in progress:

salivates... yes yes estimated time on release?

The thing that single player lock-on lacks the most IMO is a sense of being there and no storyline that really connects misisons together. So far the missions kinda just feel like individual practice runs. But I guess it's what happens when you don't have a dynamic campaign system.

looks good - hope to try it soon :)

Looks flippin sweet!! The payload screen is my only complaint--the greyish area that was left alone stands out like a sore thumb. It would be nice to get rid of all of that ugly grey color in all the menus!!

The grey area is going to be changed. Once again this work in progress and the loadout screen has not yet been finished. Obviously I'm not going to leave it as it is.

There will be two types of install packages: one for just missions and one with the GUI, cutscenes, music, and everything else.

I recommend the second just for atmosphere and to give the game a new feel.

FC 1.1 and 1.11 recognizes avi files with the xvid codec. This enables us to make movies inbetween missions.

Why do you want images when movies can show images as well?

I think he means like "satellite" or "recon" photos of the target area and such for putting in the briefing.

That can be done with an avi movie as well. Also the LOMAC ingame map itself supports a satellite view.

Can these movies be shown for online missions? I understand the client needs the files too but this would be great for a "realistic" type briefing.

Gaahh! I think he means if you can have regular images (that you can make to look like photographs) in the briefing. So you can study them and really know what your target looks like before you take off.

I don't think you can though.

No that's definitely not supported. It isn't very important for F-15 pilots either, as this will be an F-15 campaign not an A-10/Su-25 one. You do realize that if you click on the map options button in LOMAC for a mission, you can switch to satellite view which gives you a color picture of the actual terrain?

LOMAC only allows cutscenes in campaign files, which cannot be shown online.

Sorry.

Would you guys prefer sort of a campaign "manual" that would have briefings (with target/mission information, satellite imagery and obviously mission description) that you guys can print off or read in PDF format? It's not exactly an elegant solution, but I'm just throwing it out there :)

No! :o

Wasn't this the only/standard view in Flanker 2?

BTW, another thing... couldn't you see the units in the editor before, or was that also in Flanker 2?

I hate just having icons to look at and you have to run the mission to see what the placement really looks like...

Then you should make it fit on 1 page or at least have a short 1 page version of each target/mission info so that people with two screens could have that on the second screen without the need to change pages and stuff.

Yes, that's true...

Some months ago I thought I solved the mystery - I discovered that there actually was a pretty good reason why Lock On can't do this (but Flanker 2 could). Unfortunately, now I forgot what it was... :icon_redf

Well this is one of the things that makes the editor so user unfriendly :(

And please do remember ;)
