Witchking Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 (edited) Hi guys, Just got a brand new warthog yesterday. Is this all normal? I read the warthog is perfect out of box. No need for deadzone or any other thing. Anoying to see these issues. 1) Started instant mission: plane rolls slightly to the right when axis is at centre...ie., untouched 2) Little bit of slack on the X-axis in the "ball" of the joystick. You can just about move the stick at the centre some 4-5mm or so. In target analyzer and DCS axis tune...it does register as a very tiny imput..so its not a deadzone...but a little bit of slack in the stick at the center 3) Here is the issue on youtube...video makes it easier: The stick moving in x-axis only..registers movement a bit in y axis. This is more so for movement in Y-axis only registering a bit of movement in x-axis. I even tried using A-10 joystick calibratiion tool 1.11 or somehting. I don''t know if it screwed it up even more. images: at center %5Bimg%5Dhttp%3A//i180.photobucket.com/albums/x87/vraev/1-5.jpg[/img] x-axis movement causes y axis movement too Y axis movement causes X axis movement video I can try and move the stick and fight it...but I am disappointed if this is normal for such a quality product. Heck...the x-box 360 gamepad axis can be moved properly without inputs on other axis. I do have small hands...I don't know if this is my mistake either...but I tried doing it as carefully and linearly as I can...so i don't think I am screwing up moving it in one axis alone. sure is a beautiful product though...damn solid and impressive. Got it at best buy. 12535 member#...so not an older batch of sticks IIRC. Firmware is latest... 20 for throttle and 11 for stick IIRC. 159th_Viper Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 ...but I tried doing it as carefully and linearly as I can...so i don't think I am screwing up moving it in one axis alone..... Is that not normal? I mean, short of hooking it up to a machine to manipulate it in the X or Y axis, there is simply no way you are going to move it along one axis alone without deviating - the Warthog is just too sensitive with the hall sensors for that to happen: It is always going to deviate either left or right when moving it up or down and visa versa. Witchking Posted September 14, 2012 Author Posted September 14, 2012 I don't know. If u have a warthog...can u please check it on yours ? Or can anyone try checking on theirs if they can move it linearly without movement on another axis. I agree...the ball on the warthog is bigger, the stick is heavier than the Xbox 360 controller which makes sense to possible issues with stick linear movement. I just want to know if its normal and if I need to apply a deadzone as people say warthog is perfect out of the box. Also...I don't know if I messed up my calibration setting. Can i reset the warthog to default stock factory settings after using the calibration tool from TM?? Bluedrake42 Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 lol idk if you've played warthog before but this is normal xD You're going to laugh at yourself. The A10C default weapon loadout is uneven from wing to wing the TGP on the right wing is HELLA heavy, which means the aircraft will bank slightly to the right To correct this problem just trim your aircraft to compensate for the drift There's no problem with your hardware, its just that the game is SUPER realistic haha Its simulating wing loadout drag and weight Edit: You'll also notice this on takoff btw, with a normal loadout with the TGP on the right your plane will drift You have to make sure you work the pedals to keep yourself on the runway ;D http://www.youtube.com/bluedrake42 Subscribe to me
joey45 Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Try a mission with the plane clean. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Witchking Posted September 14, 2012 Author Posted September 14, 2012 @Bluedrake...LOL!!! Thanks!! You are right... it was the TGP weight. I tried a clean plane from a simple ME mission and perfectly horizontal...no roll. Played warthog before...quite a bit....know the systems etc...used to play with my old X45. never noticed this before. lol! Must have thought its a stick issue and ignored it. Thanks guys! What about the second issue? The movement in other axis direction? Can someone please try and check and let me know? thanks V WHISPR | Intel I7 5930K | Nvidia GTX980 4GB GDDR5 | 16GB DDR4 | Intel 730 series 512GB SSD | Thrustmaster WARTHOG | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR4 pro | |A-10C|BS2 |CA|P-51 MUSTANG|UH-1H HUEY|MI-8 MTV2 |FC3|F5E|M2000C|AJS-37|FW190|BF 109K|Mig21|A-10:SSC,EWC|L-39|NEVADA|

And also I JUST got my TM Hotas Warthog yesterday ;D so if anyone were to help you it'd be me haha, I tested mine and it did the same thing, so I think you're fine 1 http://www.youtube.com/bluedrake42 Subscribe to me
Witchking Posted September 14, 2012 Author Posted September 14, 2012 thanks! much appreciated. :D Glad to know that nothing is wrong with my unit. I was going to wait..but thanks to a price match + an old gift card, I got a killer deal on the warthog so I jumped. Time to now clean up and take some pics for some warthog pr0n. damn this stick is freaking amazing to look at. lol WHISPR | Intel I7 5930K | Nvidia GTX980 4GB GDDR5 | 16GB DDR4 | Intel 730 series 512GB SSD | Thrustmaster WARTHOG | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR4 pro | |A-10C|BS2 |CA|P-51 MUSTANG|UH-1H HUEY|MI-8 MTV2 |FC3|F5E|M2000C|AJS-37|FW190|BF 109K|Mig21|A-10:SSC,EWC|L-39|NEVADA|

Witchking Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 Quick question regarding the "Airbrake" on the right throttle. Is the cover of the switch loose for everyone? most units? I can't remember if it had that loose play from the beginning or it has developed it since use. The china hat has a bit of play too, but this one has even more play. Supersheep Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 I had my hands on four units by now (one RMA, two in retail and mine that's sitting here) and all show some play on the airbrake switch, especially in the center position. Same for china hat and some others. The center play of the stick is due to the way it is constructed. If you look into the "Greasing up the Warthog"-thread, you'll see images that explain it better than I could here. Super- The PVC Pipe Joystick Stand How to thread

Panthro Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 even in real military aircraft there are imperfections in the control interfaces. complaining to the engineers doesnt help due to limitation of the real life™ physics engine ;-) I just adjusted the curves on my WH [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic86362_2.gif[/sIGPIC]
Witchking Posted October 24, 2012 Author Posted October 24, 2012 Haha! Well...its just concerning when u have a 400$ joystick with a wobbly knob when everything else is perfect. Even little things give me the creeps for the price I paid on this thing. My most expensive peripheral ever....well..apart from my DSLR and PC itself. Regd. curves...I personally found the warthog to be perfect. Just no adjustments needed. Perfect centering and perfect responses.
