Corrigan Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Not quite the new coastal water refraction effects are still present. Nate That is a nice detail. :) Win10 x64 | SSDs | i5 2500K @ 4.4 GHz | 16 GB RAM | GTX 970 | TM Warthog HOTAS | Saitek pedals | TIR5
Quirkitized Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 (edited) I am getting great performance with the new update but still getting about 5-10sec of freeze-stutter-loading at the start of a mission. Game is installed on SSD. Edited October 5, 2012 by Quirkitized

MadDog-IC Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 I just installed 1.2.1 and I straight away used my own High.lua where I have 20km view distance for cities and bit more high res ground textures compared to default High.lua in sim and really... the sim is still running good for me.. same setting as what I had before to tress and bushes etc.. and honestly I can't tell any diference beween FPS I had in 1.2.0 with my tweaks and this one... I don't know what the fuss is about? That is the answer really, having just tweaked my own high.lua file, I see that 1.21 has just about tripled most of the view distances / full detail rendering distances. I see it this way, ED are doing this so that in A10 / P51, etc, you have a detailed world at high altitudes, you see all the districts/towns, etc for visual references. Unfortunately, when you are in the black shark flying at low altitude, those districts/towns are being rendered at higher detail and for a longer distance, hence the frame rate drop. Rocket and Bomb explosions effects have probably also been doubled or tripled, whilst it looks good, it turns the game into a slow slide show. Just play Battle mission in Black shark to see this effect at its worse, when the grads MRL (Multiple Rocket Launcher) lets loose and the rockets impact (30 down to 5-8 fps). It is also informative to turn on the in game FPS counter, by tapping R-Ctrl Pause twice and take notice of the objects displayed and/or rendered in the scene. At 300-600 units, Fps is pretty good, but as you look around Battle, it can go to 1200/1400 units, and in the Grad MRL rocket launches it will go to 2800-3000+ units to render, this makes DCS FPS really chug down to single digit figures. I too, now have DCSW 1.21 running about the same as BS1/2 Frame rates at a better looking visuals. Except from high.lua distance = { distance10x10 = 20000.0; -- org 1.21=60000, 1.20=30000 distanceLevel0 = 15000.0; -- org 1.21=38000, 1.20=18000 uniqueSceneFarDistance = 10000.0; -- org 1.21=10000 smokesSceneFarDistance = 10000.0; -- org 1.21=10000 minimalSquareOnScreen = 50; -- org 50 minimalSquareOnScreenFull = 100; -- org 100 mapLodDistance0 = 2000; -- org 2000 mapLodDistance1 = 4000; -- org 4000 mapLodDistance2 = 6000; -- org 6000 mapLodDistance3 = 8000; -- org 8000 smallShitDimention = 400; -- org 400 } distanceBlend = { townNearDistance = 100.0; -- org 1.21=20000, 1.20=10000 townFarDistance = 15000.0; -- org 1.21=60000, 1.20=25000 fieldNearDistance = 100.0; -- org 1.21=10000 fieldFarDistance = 15000.0; -- org 1.21=60000, 1.20=13000 waterNearDistance = 100.0; -- org 1.21=6000 waterFarDistance = 15000.0; -- org 1.21=12000 townLightNearDistance = 100.0; -- org 1.21=9000, 1.20=9000 townLightFarDistance = 15000.0; -- org 1.21=60000, 1.20=10000 subforest = {100, 5000}; -- org 1.21=8000,13000 beach = {100, 5000}; -- org 1.21=8000,13000 road = {100, 5000}; -- org 1.21=8000,13000 } district = { maxDistrictsAround = 100000; -- org 100000 farDistance = 20000.0; -- org 1.21=20000, bs2=10000 Show all districts up to this range farFullRenderDistance = 2000.0; -- org 1.21=15000, bs2=6000 Render Full detail upto this range nearFullRenderDistance = 1000.0; -- org 1.21=500, bs2=800 Render Full detail from this range nearDistance = 1000.0; -- org 1.21=250 bs2=560 Render Districts from this range I am no expert, so it may cause some slight issues (things poping out of thing air), but at least I can play the game, hopefully this may help some others.
