Stonehouse Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Ok I came in part way through this and unfortunately didn't see the new instructions to deactivate the products I own (CA, A10, P51, BS2 upgrade) and while I've uninstalled everything as always before putting in a new version of DCS it seems like an uninstall doesn't automatically deactivate a license but does somehow remove it. So the first I knew something was wrong was when reinstalling CA I do the activation and notice only 8 left. I then did some reading here and tried the various methods of deactivation before activating the next module but get told there is no license for deactivation and going to the starforce website and entering the two serials I see in the activation dialog I get an error that the hardware code I entered was for activation not deactivation. So at present it seems I'm going to lose 1 activation on every product I install. Can anyone make any suggestions around this problem as I don't think I'll get them back in a months time. Thanks, Stonehouse
cichlidfan Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 You should be able to re-install v1.2.0 World and modules that you want to deactivate. They should come up already activated. Then go through the deactivation process. ENO Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 If this is any indication of the status of the patch- I'm going back to PAC man. Activate- deactivate... Do(n't) I mean I don't care to have 10 activations and frankly I'm sure 8 is 9 more than I'd need considering I had to buy another copy to host a fricken server for them (so now I have 20 activations)... But if the guys who designed it aren't even sure how it's going to work then ummmm... Wut? "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret. Slap_Chop Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Well............ When you hit SHIFT and Start DCS World Multiplayer it will bring up the activation screen for the 1st module you installed. I believe in my case it was A10 C (I Have A10 BS2 and P51). It let me deactivate the A10 module and that was it. (You can see what module you're working with up on the top left of the activation window) So I tried this twice but it only seemed to show the A10 module to deactivate. So I uninstalled 1.2.0 and went ahead and installed 1.2.1 and then the 3 new modules. (A10 BS2 and P51.) It then asked to activate each module after I tried to run a mission in one of them and it left me with 9 activations in the A10 module (which I had deactivated before uninstalling ) but only 8 activations for BS2 and P51. So it looks like I lost 1 activation in the two modules I couldn't deactivate. Did I do something wrong. I don't know but the process isn't so straight forward with modules being inside World as opposed to being separate as they were before DCS world. If you get my drift. I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy and I've had both. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Stonehouse Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Good idea Cichlidfan but unfortunately I can't see v1.2.0 of World on the DCS site anymore and also unfortunately I cleaned up the downloads of the old versions to make more room for the new ones. Seems like I may just have to live with losing 1 activation all around although perhaps as seem to recall they did once before they'll award one activation back to anyone with less than the full number to make up for the snafu. Thanks for the help in anycase. Cheers, Stonehouse
BigfootMSR Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Have no fear. After you have used your last activation, you will get another activation after 30 days automatically. You will not have to worry about needing to buy the game again after you run out. you can deactivate your modules by going to your dcs world > mods> aircrafts folder. Inside each of those folders is a folder called bin. Inside of that, you will find a file named "Modulename_Protect. If you double click on it, it will pop a window where you can deactivate your product. When you first install the game, you start off with 10 deactivations, and 10 activations. After your last activation is used, you will automatically gain another activation after 30days. So it is never activated with a serial number and never has to be Deactivated. Only the Add on planes do. I wish I'd of known about the protect.exe program in the module directories heh. No biggy tho one activation gone. (We are brave and couragous sim pilots) ish Edited October 2, 2012 by Slap_Chop I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy and I've had both.
