Brun Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Here's some screenshots for a more direct comparison. I won't bother pointing out which is which. One thing to look out for is the altimiter in the lower-right corner of the last pair. The effect on the horizon is quite noticeable in those as well. I think if it were possible for ED to implement something like this, there's no reason why it would have to be an all or nothing option. A slider for 'distortion correction' should be perfectly feasible. Maybe :) Asus Z690 Hero | 12900K | 64GB G.Skill 6000 | 4090FE | Reverb G2 | VPC MongoosT-50CM2 + TM Grips | Winwing Orion2 Throttle | MFG Crosswind Pedals
GeorgeLKMT Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 (edited) From the frying pan into the fire :no_sad: (Is this right idiom? Yeah I'm nailing English lol) Canopy frame is maybe thinner now, but that distortion in the middle of the image is very bad, like looking through concave lens. Neither way is very realistic. Dammit I wish I had FC3 already so I can test this out by myself. And I never noticed this issue in FSX, so there is certainly something "magic" about viewpoint in this ga... simulator. BHawthorne Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Hrrm, I could hop into Steve Cannaby's F-15A cockpit and snap a few comparison shots of the canopy frame closed. Is there any difference between the F-15A and F-15C canopy frame?
Cali Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Appears you weren't being sarcastic, my apologies (and to Cali as well) :) No apology needed Hrrm, I could hop into Steve Cannaby's F-15A cockpit and snap a few comparison shots of the canopy frame closed. Is there any difference between the F-15A and F-15C canopy frame? That would be cool, wish I would of snapped some pic of the 15E I was in, but that thought never accrued to me to get pics of the rail. Guess next time, take pics of anything and everything possible! i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED

Mnemonic Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 (edited) ... And I never noticed this issue in FSX, so there is certainly something "magic" about viewpoint in this ga... simulator. Usually in FSX we fly with much narrower FOV. I didn't checked the numbers but it feels like on screens where canopy frame looks exaggerated FOV is about 100 degrees or even more. If one just zoom in to have 60 - 45 degree, then such a distortion simply will not be noticeable. Edited November 18, 2012 by Mnemonic
Leonski Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 Well with thick canopy frame you got a very big blind site!! McDonnell Douglas ✮ F-15C Eagle ✮ // USAF 2012 // Raytheon Trophy HD
Brun Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 Not true. You don't see any less because everything behind the frame is distorted in the same way. Asus Z690 Hero | 12900K | 64GB G.Skill 6000 | 4090FE | Reverb G2 | VPC MongoosT-50CM2 + TM Grips | Winwing Orion2 Throttle | MFG Crosswind Pedals
