Huhn Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 look at http://www.globemaster.de. there is a list of 494 US air bases and their locations. so you don't have to argue about it. :)
upyr1 Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 My ideas first for theaters 1. Afganistan- could design the map to do double duety of the Russian's circa 1985 or USAF 20 years latter. 2. Korea 3. Spratly Islands or Tiwan 4. Russian far East- could be about a sessionist movement. 5. Chechinya 6. Iraq
upyr1 Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Taiwan/China or Alaska/Bearing Straits gets my vote. Tiwan would be better Alaska is about 4 times the size of Texas..imagine tha lag.
upyr1 Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Yeah. The state of South Dakota cecedes from the union. But...it has one of the most powerful Air Forces in the world and has a large nuclear arsenal (Both would actually be true). That would be a cool scenario. For the Alskan fans..there is an Alaskan sessionist movement.. AIP
peterj Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Thats the leght of time both airforces would last. :) You know you're talking about one that's been the fourth largest air force in the world? In the 50's and 60's :) http://www.globaldefence.net
alert_ Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 The Fulda gap scenarion looks great, but personally I would prefer a little larger area let's say 300x300km, that's 90000 km^2, still doable (less then map in LOMAC). It would enable to use WP forces too, for ex. Mig29vsF16A (with only Winders a lot of fun), Su25vsA10, Mi24vsAH64A). I believe that such sim would sell like a hot buns and eveyone would be satisfied (coop, online wars etc)

Pilotasso Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 300x300 is much smaller than the current map which is more than 1500 x 800 = 1,200,000 km². dont forget that over 70% of that area is water with no buildings or roads to place on it. .
Yellonet Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 dont forget that over 70% of that area is water with no buildings or roads to place on it.Yeah, and most of the map area isn't used, but I do think we need more than 300 x 300 km, something like 5-600 x 5-600 might be enough, with water and everything. And is it possible to get a curved map? With real magnetic north, if that isn't modeled already? Making anti-ship strikes and flying low to let the earths curvature hide you is cool  i7-2600k@4GHz, 8GB, R9 280X 3GB, SSD, HOTAS WH, Pro Flight Combat Pedals, TIR5
alert_ Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 300x300 is a bare minimum to include some WP (East Germany) territory in gameply, because what would happen if the initial tank assault will be reverted to east? End of map, end of game?
