He did attack the target there were two "Missle Away" calls to you. and then a "Rounds on Target" call.

Then you was watching the wrong track mate.

If that was a genuine mistake fair enough, if not please don't give misleading information that might prevent others from watching the track and helping me out.

Tracks can go differently on other computers. The track is simulated gameplay with recorded input from user. I did not watch that track yet, might watch it later. But if AtaliaA1 had wingman shooting the targets you might have some problem with AI on your computer.

Thanks !

That's exactly why I am asking others for help, it might be something wrong with my installation screwing up the AI, especially as I'm getting a similar problem with the Ka-50. I have no other problems with either the A-10C or Ka-50 except sometimes AI wingman not attacking targets even when he acknowledges the instruction. As I understand it if he didn't have a valid target he would say something like 'Negative' or 'Unable'

If AialiaA1 was being genuine with his comments then I sincerely apologise for thinking he was just trying to be funny. As his findings were so very different from mine with the same track.

Its been downloaded 5 times so far, can someone else please report if the Wingman attacked any Air Defence target ?

Yes Sir. I wasn't joking at all. I downloaded it last night and it played out with wingman taking out targets "On My PC". I didn't know it could play different on other PCs, learn something new everyday.

Hi AtaliaA1

That is really weird, your account of the same track is so different from mine, I was convinced you were having a bit of fun. On my computer he acknowledged the command then just turned to follow me. I have played it again a few times, even just watching an external view of my wingman, and he definitely doesn't fire anything ???

I'm having a very similar problem with the Ka-50 wingman, so there may be some file embedded on my hard drive that wasn't removed or changed when I updated DCS World. I have put a similar post on the Ka-50 forum and practically no other member backed me up, so perhaps its just me.

It would be nice if forum members would comment by saying something like "It works fine for me" then I would know its my problem alone and not the software.

Once again Sir I do apologise for doubting you and appreciate your feedback

I just watched this track. I can confirm that GAJ52's wingman does not engage or attempt to engage any targets, and that he or she is not crazy. :)

I played it and the AI hadn't attacked the target yet but was still lining up at the end.

First you attacked target number 1 with guns, Then told wing to form up on you

You then told wing to attack air defense target with maverick. The wing then called out 2 targets, with the air defense one at 5 o clock. Shortly after the track ended.

You may not have given the wing enough time to do the job before ending the track. It's also possible that the rang was too close when you gave the order making it impossible for the wing to attack. I would try it again.

I am still using the 1.1.1.1 ver. I should have mentioned that but it didn't click till the last post by GAJ52.

I saw that the World ver. was having problems so I was waiting to update it.

AI is much slower in DCS World 1.2.2 than some previous version which number I dont remember. Dont know if it is intented to be this slow but it is quite annoying to deal with jtac on current version. Sometimes it takes almost a minute to get an answer from ground forces, or you have to ask for target multible times.

I wish somebody from ED would make a quick comment on this thread and say something like "Yes we are aware of issues with AI and it will be fixed at some stage".

I find this total silence from them on this subject really annoying. I don't normally start shouting and throwing my toys out of the pram, but ED have broken the AI during one of the other updates and should at least acknowledge this, so people like me don't take up forum space by complaining about known issues.

One thing I find strange is that more people are not complaining about this issue, is it that they just use MP or don't use their wingman or theirs is working as it should - strange !

I can confirm wingmen have problems following orders sometimes. For me the problem has always existed to some extend and I can't really tell whether it has become worse since 1.2.2. This is mainly due to the randomness of the problem. In very similar situations my wingman may or may not execute the order and I have yet to find a pattern. I suspect that this is an important reason why the problem hasn't been fixed yet. You can safely assume that ED is aware of it, but they may have a hard time to pin the causes down.

Why didn't my wingman attack the target - short track attached.

Sincere apologies for not getting back to you sooner - too much things and too little time.

That said, the A.I. engage targets at your SPI just fine - the issue seems to be the range at which you give the order to engage. You need to wait until you are within the SAM's range prior to giving the order otherwise the A.I. will not engage, presumably due to viewing/awareness distance which is in itself the bug and which I am currently investigating/will report.

In other words, irrespective of range, the A.I. should engage at SPI.

Many thanks for your help.

Its good to hear someone is looking into this annoying problem.

I'm also getting a similar problem with the Ka-50 when asked to attack a Data-link target, he says copy or roger heads in the direction of the target then says rejoin without firing - could this problem be linked ??

Might very well be.

To confirm, all you need to do is navigate until he is actually aware of the targets and then order to engage. Chances are he will do so without further ado.
