WildBillKelsoe Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 I've noticed that on some takeoffs, as I correct my nose position using rudder, the HUD tape moves for the rest of the flight slightly to the right or left. I want to know if HUD follows the F-16 in wind correction being the cause, and also if I could reset the HUD tape position on HUD (yes/no, and how). Finally, I would like to know if rudder trim could be reset or do I have to memorize 'clicks' made to negate effected trim. Thanks in advance. Hamblue Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 If you change direction 90 degrees does it go away? Sounds like you might have a cross wind. Rusty_M Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 You cannot reset the HUD. It's positioned based on the direction the plane is travelling, IIRC, but not necessarily the direction it is facing. I'm sure there were some posts about it when A-10 was newly released. I don't know the answer to your rudder trim question. The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine! http://www.twitch.tv/rusty_the_robot https://www.youtube.com/user/RustyRobotGaming
Kaiza Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 The HUD follows aircraft track so if you input rudder it will follow the track the aircraft is flying not the direction the aircraft is heading. Unlike the F-16 there is no way to lock it in place. I am not sure what you mean about memorizing rudder trim inputs, there should be no need to. You trim the rudder until you are flying straight (ie the ball is central). If there is wind on the takeoff, then you shouldnt need to trim on the roll, just hold some into wind aileron and rudder. There is no reset function apart from the t/o setting. Dejjvid Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Hehe, that's for the Ka-50! :) I'm fairly sure you are experiencing crosswind. Make a simple mission with 0 wind and try again. I kinda enjoy flying in windy conditions and I've never seen any HUD errors. i7 8700K | GTX 1080 Ti | 32GB RAM | 500GB M.2 SSD | TIR5 w/ Trackclip Pro | TM Hotas Warthog | Saitek Pro Flight Rudder [sigpic]http://www.132virtualwing.org[/sigpic]
