Dave317 Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 My wife got me 32 inch 720p lcd tv to use as a monitor for christmas and i was just wondering if i really need a 1080p? I'm used to a 23 inch pc monitor running at 1080p. Will it be much worse? I don't want to upset her but imo it would be better to get the right one from the start.

I am thinking the same but mine is a 27" LED TV...believe it is also a 720p...watching TV you cannot get 1080p yet..but gaming you can ..so is there a significant difference..???
[sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic89949_15.gif[/sIGPIC]
Recruiting for Aerobatic Team/Fighter Group... docfu Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 The difference is just the true resolution: I'm running a Sharp 37" 720p @ 1280x768 resolution. For the most part, games look awesome and with a TrackIR everything is really smooth. A 1080p would get you 1920x1280 which is quite a jump in resolution, but really for 32 inches I'm not sure if it's worth a fuss... In your case though, you'll be stepping down. But do this: before you start a fight, set your 23" to 1024x768 and just play for an hour. If it drives you crazy, then you have your answer.
SkateZilla Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 your image will be blurry on smaller details and Text Font Sizes.. 1280x720p on a 30 Inch Array is gonna have a seriously high Dot Pitch. Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
metalnwood Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 If it was me it would swap it out. The price difference is not enough to not have a 1080p panel. It will make a difference. Perhaps not for TV watching but as a computer monitor there really is a difference between the two resolutions on a monitor of that size. As far as monitors that you would use for a desktop there is a reason you dont find any monitors at that resolution on anything under about 18".
Dave317 Posted December 27, 2012 Author Posted December 27, 2012 I gave it a try and out did look pretty good although the text on the a10's hud and mfcd's were blurry. Fortunatly the shop had advertised it as a 1080p tv when it clearly wasn't. I took it back and for £10 more I now have a 1080p led tv which if far far better. The display is crystal clear now and everything can be read very clearly and looks fantastic. I'm so glad I changed it.

joey45 Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 False advertising.. should of been free.. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Check your PM :) Dcs is brilliant in 32 inch hd, I would post up a photo but I'm in the middle of building a new desk and warthog mount. Santa (the wife) was very kind to me this year! I'm looking to get new PC and monitor, and am in the 'research' phase. 32" is a bit much for the space I've got in mind (24" maybe better) but I just am intrigued to know if the 1080 pixel pitch at 32" is an issue CORSAIR 5000D AIRFLOW Mid Tower | AMD RYZEN 7 9800X3D | G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo EXPO RGB 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5 PC5-48000C30 6000MHz | ASUS ROG X870E-E GAMING WIFI | Gigabyte RTX5080 Gaming OC 16GB | 4TB Lexar NM790 M.2 PCIe 4.0 | Seasonic Prime TX-1000 1000W 80 Plus Titanium Modular Power Supply | Lian Li Galahad II Trinity AIO 360mm | Meta Quest Pro | TM HOTAS Warthog | Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals | Win 11 Home | Asus PG348Q 34" 3440x1440 Monitor | Bose Companion 3 2.1 Sound
