Fakum Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Is anyone using the TARGET software for thier HOTAS? Im stuck in the "Create Association" section. The 3rd line item asks for you to browse for a ".fcf or a .tmc" file within EagleDynamics I presume, I have no idea where to find this for the P-51? cichlidfan Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 You have to create them. They do not come from the sim. Have you read the Target manuals? Fakum Posted December 28, 2012 Author Posted December 28, 2012 Yes, I have started reading from page 1, Im now on page3 , I was following the instructions on installing it per "3. "Fly NOW!" quick launch" This is where it it wants me to type in a title 1st, then put in the path target(which I did), then to this item in question. I must have missed something on page 1 & 2 where it must tell you to create a profile before going to page 3???? cichlidfan Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Sorry, I had forgotten how unclear those manuals are though I don't use the autostart options anyway. Yes, you do need to create the 'profile' first. I would read through the first manual before trying to do anything with Target else you will likely confuse yourself even more. fcf files are created when you use the GUI to create a profile. You can link them to a sim as you have read. tmc files are the raw script files created when you use the Script Editor (they get created along with fcf files when using the GUI but you do not see them) and by themselves cannot be linked to a sim like the fcf files. cichlidfan Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 I have played with the GUI briefly as it was useful for testing certain things (there are a few errors in the manual though mostly minor) but I have created all of my profiles directly in the script editor. When you use scripts in this way, you must start the script in Target and then start the sim. The end result is still the same if you use the GUI and the linked fcf files but I prefer seeing the actual scripting code. If you have questions feel free to ask. JesseJames38 Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 I tryed to use the target software. personly i found it was a pain. Then after being set up some times there is a lag from when you flip the switch to when the sim reconizes it. Personly i found it easer to set the switches up in the LUA file for the controler. works 100% of the time. no lag when the flip the switches and no messing around with the target software to get the switches configured from on and off from flipping up and down. send me a PM and i will try and get a good example set up for you. PS i also have a profile set up for the P-51 for the warthog http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=92330&highlight=SnugglesTheBear Jesse

9.JG27 DavidRed Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 what about this lua.file? with my new warthog, i tried target once, but quickly uninstalled it again.the biggest drawback with this software is, that it automatically combines both devices into one.i dont understand why they did it this way, as it makes things only complicated without any benefit in modern sims.in ch-control manager for example you could as well combine your controlers, but only if you want to do so.you are not forced like in target. the second reason i try to avoid a joystick software is, that i as well recognized, that really small and subtle, but still recognizeable input lags occour once you have it installed. so in short, i prefer to just use my warthog without any additional software.just plug and play. this works perfectly for the a10.and works as well for the p51, but there there is the problem of using all the positions of the levers on the throttle.those three position levers work only as a two position one, and for the two postion levers you can only assign one function.... so to come to my question: is it somehow possible, for example with a lua.file, to make use of all the positions of all buttons and levers of my warthog, without using target??? it works for the a10 by default, so i guess, it should somehow be possible for the p51 as well.
JesseJames38 Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Yes you can edit the .lua file in order to use the toggle switches as switches. you can look here in the post i made how to edit it. This is for the blackshark. same thing applys for the P-51D, if you have any questions feel free to PM me and i will try and help you out step by step. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=101637 Jesse 1

9.JG27 DavidRed Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 ok, i have one problem now with my newly created lua.profile for the P51.... for all those 2position switches like the fuel booster, landing light and so on, they are out of sync, when my switches on my warthog throttle are in the wrong position before starting the mission. this was the same with my earlier lua.profile, but there i just had to flip the switch once, which didnt result in any reaction in game,...then it was in the correct position and synched with the game,...if i then flipped the switch once more, it worked in game, and in synch with my actual controller.... now, if the switch is in the wrong position at mission start, and i flip the switch, the game will recognize it and also flip the switch in the cockpit.so it stays out of synch during the whole mission.... anybody knows how to cure that problem?
tintifaxl Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 now, if the switch is in the wrong position at mission start, and i flip the switch, the game will recognize it and also flip the switch in the cockpit.so it stays out of synch during the whole mission.... anybody knows how to cure that problem? Try to pause the game (via escape-key), before toggling the flip switch on the Warthog. I always sync the switches before I start a mission (or suffer the consequences ;)) Windows 10 64bit, Intel i9-9900@5Ghz, 32 Gig RAM, MSI RTX 3080 TI, 2 TB SSD, 43" 2160p@1440p monitor.

This is the major drawback of the target software. The macro and gui files are not interchangeable. That is a little sucky, to put it mildly. 9.JG27 DavidRed Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 thx but the thing is, it was working with my former profile....at least if im not totally mistaken and complete nuts now. :)
NorCal Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 I don't know if anyone is reading this thread anymore. I'll go ahead put in my 2 cents and hopefully help someone else out. I experienced the same "road block" as the 1st poster did. What the heck is an "Associate Configuration"??? I read through the manual twice when I first got my Thrustmaster Hotas and it didn't make any more sense the 2nd time through than it did the first time through. Solution: The explanation on how to create an "Associate Configuration" starts out on p. 12 of the manual. That makes a lot of sense. You'll also find how to create the "Path" on the same page. Like someone mentioned previously, you 1st have to create your Associate Configuration before you "Fly Now". I really screwed things up from the beginning. I didn't know a "Path" from a "Associate Configuration". The manual didn't explain how to do JACK up to p.3 SO I forced both Path & Associate Configuration to the point where it loaded the "Title" right where it was suppose to (under "Fly Now") but also tagged the Title w/ the incorrect Path & Associate Configuration file garbage I created & forced entered. So now I couldn't delete the Title & every time I clicked on "Delete" I kept getting a "Target Error" message in the middle of the page then the GUI closed out. Pretty stupid uh? I posted on several forums & got nowhere. I emailed Thrustmaster support instead of phoning in. They hung in w/ me & came up w/ a solution on how to delete the faked profile I created. Solution as they wrote it exactly : Try finding your TARGET configuration at the following location: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Thrustmaster\TARGET Profiles created through Fly now are saved here. Go here, remove the XML file having the name of that faulty configuration and then lunch the TARGET software. BINGO!!! You guys are probably scratching your heads wondering "how in the heck did this idiot screw things up this bad"! The learning curve has been steep for me. I've been like a "dog on a bone" and haven't given up & keep on keepin on simming. Not that I don't have some problems w/ trying to figuring things out - DCS has given me many hrs of enjoyment. Hope this helps someone.
