Greetings !

Just a quick note... Steam recently had a sale of DCS:A-10C Warthog and it's popularity apparently has vastly outweighed demand of CD Keys through the Steam system...

If anyone within the payments/activations department reads this, can you please check out the game title community forums on steam

http://steamcommunity.com/app/61010/discussions/

to confirm this, and if possible, get in touch with Steam in order to get a supply of CD keys out to the newly-initiated/newly-disappointed playerbase who haven't actually been able to play the game that they paid for...

In addition, it seems that the version on Steam is v1.1.1.1 and not the DCS World/A-10 module setup, which would be preferrable if it's possible =)

I'll keep an eye on this thread, don't know if it's gonna be looked at/commented on, but I can live in hope.

Regards,

You can bypass the steam version once you get your cdkey and download dcs world and the a10 module from the dcs site. Your steam cdkey will still work.

last time it took a few days (it was a summer sale IIRC), they have to get ahold of Starforce.

Seeing as SF and Steam peoples are both prolly still on vactions... Give it till next week.

I've checked, and this is already in the process of being resolved.

Apologies for the inconvenience caused, hopefully everyone that is affected will have their keys automatically associated to their Steam accounts soon. (I cannot give an exact timeframe for that though, since it is not in ED's hands.)

Till then, Download DCSW and the A-10 Module, and DCS A-10C 1.1.1.1 Standalone, Cuz Steam's Version is limited to 32-Bit :p

Once you get your key, start the download, pause it, view CD Key, Copy to Clipboard, Save it, use it to activate DCS A-10C that you downloaded and installed already. Then right click and choose delete local content.

Well, if you get World and the module, why also get the 1.1.1.1 standalone?

If somebody becomes aware that the CD Key problem has been resolved on Steam, please post something in here to that effect. Thanks!

Don't you worry - I'll be checking up on this hourly (while I'm awake) til this issue gets resolved... as soon as I find out, I'll post it here and on the steamcommunity.com forums for the title.

im worried myself, someone on the steam forum said he has had that problem for over 2 months D: i hope he's not saying the truth.

i feel like i should just get that module here right now and just sell the steam CD whenever ill get it :/

steam will not allow anyone to sale/give/trade an old account or software they bought from steam, to an other person.:(

btw i've been waiting since Saturday the 29th:pilotfly:

I'm another one of those affected. I have been holding off to buy any starforce protected products for years, but I thought:

"meh... they probably sorted out the problems, no need to worry about losing another Burner or having activation problems. Its on steam, and never had any issues whatsoever on steam. Time to buy!"

And here I am :disgust::glare::thumbdown:

Waiting since the 29th of December.

Forgot to add when I bought the simulator.

What a surprise, a game company thinks they are fighting pirates, but instead hurts all the people who are trying to support their game.

When will they learn?

I bought a copy of A-10C on steam on the 30th, still no idea when I will receive a key.

Why is everyone blaming ED for steam running out of keys. The main point of DRM as stated by a popular game designer is to stop day one pirating. They know it will be cracked but could lose substantial sales if a pirated game is available before on on release day. A developer considers DRM successful if it stops the day one piracy.

Think about the lock on your door. Is it going to stop someone who already decided he's going to rob you? No but you still lock your door. This leads to the "casual" thief who comes by tries the door and moves on. Yes he would have robbed you if the door was unlocked. The same is true with game pirates. Yes some hardcore pirate will crack the DRM. The "casual" pirate still wants the game but if its not pirated on day one...lets say a week just for giggles. Is there a chance he might give up and buy it. The goal of DRM is not to stop pirating but minimize early pirating.

Companies would rather inconvenience 1 or 2 percent of the customers than lose out on early sales.

Dude your missing the point:doh: its not the single player game, its all about the multiplayer. all these new buyers/players from steam its all about killing your buddy, not playing the stupid computer on some pirate cd/download, its steam they know who we are, you cant pirate anything from them ....so whats the problem?

until someone from ED says "oh thanks that will be fixed by july of 2014" at least i know whats up, its not a mystery. but this silent treatment is whats killing me. :pilotfly:

this game better have a kick ass multiplayer experience :smilewink:

Ultimately its not eds fault steam ran out of keys. I'm assuming steam buys keys from ed. Does Sony just send 40000 tvs to best buy...no they have to be ordered. As for the multiplayer I haven't tried it but most servers are locked and unless you actually no how to use the aircraft as this is a simulation not hawx you will get smoked in multiplayer. This is not a download and kill friends expirence. This is a holy shit I really need to know how to operate a military aircraft in order to kill things expirence

so your missing the point its not eds fault for trying to protect their software its steams fault for selling a product they don't "have". As far as ed is concerned all they can do is tell steam they need more keys because people are complaining. Its up to steam to act.

This is basically a military grade simulation with the classified stuff removed.

If as stated in your previous post it was to stop DAY ONE piracy, then there is no need for the DRM anymore or, apparently its limited activations. They could have implemented steam's DRM. The other issue that, sadly, you are overlooking, is that you need the keys to match the ones in starforce servers. It is also ED that provides the keys, and all related stuff to their products, steam simply sells it, provides a platform for selling and transfers the profit, minus their cut, to the developer/publisher

Posted (edited)

best buy sells Sony tvs...is it Sonys job to make sure best buy has Sony tvs...no its best buys job. Steam stopped supporting dcs when a10 came out...wjy should they cater to steam. Yes steam sells it why are they selling a product they don't have in stock? Ed doesn't provide keys they sell them. Therefore the have to actually own keys...in this case they don't. How many companies remove DRM after day one? None! The point of the DRM if irrelevant at this point. The fact of the matter is steam sold a product they don't have "in stock". How that equates to ed screwing you over is beyond me. Isn't it steam that screwed you over by selling a product they didn't actually have? And since you obviously don't know you get 10 activations...if you use all 10 a month later one is replenished.

DRM is what it is...its not going away regardless of pirates. Deal with it

You're blaming the developer when you should be blaming the seller. If you would have bought from the developer instead of steam you would have your key.

case and point: you bought something from steam...yes

did steam actually have the keys for the product:no

Is ed responsible for the number of keys steam keeps on stock:no(just like Sony doesn't send TVs to best buy without an order)

Is this eds fault: no if a store runs out of said goods do you blame the maker of said goods or do you blame the store? The store. Steam is the store no ifs ands or buts they are to blame.

If you read post 8 ed has given an official response saying its not in there hands(ssshhh...steam needs to order more keys). The only respose steam has given is removing the option you view your key. Yes ed provides the keys but any company knows you can't give product without some sort of compensation. Ed can give the keys but without payment who's to say steam won't in a measure if good faith refund the money but still give the keys.

Am I getting through to you at all?

Activations are NOT limited. After you have used up all 10 activations, you can still activate the game once per month.

To be more precise: Steam has already been given more keys.

The holiday sale was highly successful and they were unable to anticipate the need for more keys. This has been seen to and hopefully they will be able to implement the keys into their system shortly.

I would also request that we stay the piracy/DRM discussion. Let's keep this thread clean and accessible for those that are seeking information about the ongoing issue. Thankyou.

I just bought the game off steam and i have no key provided with it.

i have send an email to support requesting an cd key.

But as i can read this issue has affected more users?

Is it not an option to install the game from steam and then pulling it out of the registery afterwards?
