Nice read though! Makes you wish there were more missions out there with focus on rocketable targets instead of the "shoot-your-twelve-vihkrs-and-rtb-because-you-cant-do-anything else-with-your-armament".

You can put rockets too good use in the Ka-50 instant action. Take out the compound, the fuel truck and a couple of BTR's if you're good with them. 40 bundles of high explosive. :D

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

Well sure :) Even better is the first escort mission in the deployment campaign with 80 bundles of joy and a whole treeline full of rebels :joystick:. I just wish there were more like them, especially in the online missions which tends to have a lot of tasks, but which are almost always made with the Vihkrs in mind.

Well, break out your modelling kit.. I for one, would much rather they finish the EDGE engine and release the Nevada map than waste what little resources they have working on this map. Its not to say that I wouldn't like to see some upgrades, but really this map and engine are at its limits.

TWO: "MAGNUM!"

("rifle" or "magnum", I forget which one it is. Been so long.)

Wasn't "MAGNUM" what A-10 pilots over Kosovo shouted on the radio to simulate an anti-radar missile launch, to keep the Serbian radars off?

BTW. THX rrohde! Great read...

Are any Ka-50 of that mentioned batch left operational novadays?

The article doesn't mention any problems about Ka-50 being single seat. Have they just chosen not to talk about it or wasn't it really a problem. Choosing Ka-52 over 50 makes you think. Then again it would be nice to get DCS Ka-29 to see how it would change things. But otherwise not very surprising conclusions about Ka-50 :).

In the minds of the Mil helicopter company and who was close to the Mil company in the military... then yes, it was a problematic design.

Also to Nato and the US, a single pilot chopper was problemamatic because they never considered, contemplated or even tested such a design in the real world environment.

The KA-29 is the best looking naval airframe and had a good diversity of weapon configurations... surely a perfect DCS module.

HP G2 Reverb (Needs upgrading), Windows 10 VR settings: IPD is 64.5mm, High image quality, G2 reset to 60Hz refresh rate. set to OpenXR, but Open XR tool kit disabled.

DCS: Pixel Density 1.0, Forced IPD at 55 (perceived world size), DLSS setting is quality at 1.0. VR Driver system: I9-9900KS 5Ghz CPU. XI Hero motherboard and RTX 3090 graphics card, 64 gigs Ram, No OC... Everything needs upgrading in this system!.

Vaicom user and what a superb freebie it is! Virpil Mongoose T50M3 base & Mongoose CM2 Grip (not set for dead stick), Virpil TCS collective with counterbalance kit (woof woof). Virpil Apache Grip (OMG). MFG pedals with damper upgrade. Total controls Apache MPDs set to virtual Reality height. Simshaker Jet Pro vibration seat.. Uses data from DCS not sound... goodbye VRS.

You don't think that maybe the Mil design bureau - a competitor in both the general aviation market, and in the trials for the military's new attack helicopter - might not be entirely impartial here ?

Remember that the Ka-50 won the actual flight competition, but Mil outdid them on the politicking ...

Cheers.
