Madone
MOJO!!! I'm out of idea, your CPU is great, maybe a HD Radeon 7970 Ghz edition could handle better your screens. A friend of mine bought, he runs a 27", not on DCS, but he's really happy with it. But if you re not in a hurry, wait for the next gen of graphic cards for the price of the 7970 to drop and maybe consider the 8XXX. But I dont know exactly, when that will happen. agrasyuk
Your platform is adequate. vid card too, although for DCS I'd choose one from green side. So no real reason to upgrade unless you absolutly have to throw money at it. In that case you can go for Ivy bridge platform but that upgrade will not be very noticeable. mr_mojo97
Thanks, it does the job. I think my cpu and gpu are getting on a bit now though. I don't wanna go down the Xfire route so would stick with one card. I think maybe it would be wise to wait for the next gen cards as you say 8XXX, although I don't have an hd6950 reference card (was one of the newer 6950 cards with only one BIOS and unflashable. Is there much difference between the 6950 and 7950 for this sim? Maybe an HD 6970 will be a nice upgrade for now. It's the itch that's making me do it!!!!! mr_mojo97
Not really a problem, it's the Itch again, see, and my comp has a scratch!!! I can always justify it to my wife this way. 'You see wifey (as is her name) it's not spending £150 on a new graphics card, it's actually only £50 cos my other one is going on eBay!' At least it works when I tell myself that. Who needs food for kids when they can have half a decent comp for their dad to play on?! Aries
I switched from a 6950 with unlocked shaders to a MSI GTX 660 Twin Frozr 2GB (not Ti) and everything runs a little smoother, the card is cold and quiet... and it was pretty cheap an upgrade... but most important of all - NO MORE AMD WHITE FLASHING BOXES!!!
