I have been reading and reading... but have one simple question.. of the missions I have downloaded, where do I put them? How do I install mods and such?

I have the ModMan tool but that does not seem to work with the latest DCS sims and such... Can someone point me in the right direction?

Take it light...

You can put the mission files anywhere, and specify to DCS where to look for them. By default they're in the saved games folder of your windows user directory.

Mine is in C:\Users\XXXX\Saved Games\DCS\Missions, for example.

Couldn't say about modman, never used it.

Assuming you run DCS World on Win7, the easiest way is to put them in C:\Users\{your user}\Saved Games\DCS\Missions. Then inside DCS (in "Mission" or "Mission Editor"), select "My missions" from the dropdown, and they should show up in the list of available missions.

The neat thing about this is that this folder doesn't usually get deleted if you uninstall DCS, so your downloaded stuff should automatically be ready as soon as you're done reinstalling (which, in case of problems with DCS World, could actually happen a few times)

How do I install mods and such?

Sorry, you said "one simple question".

Kidding aside, someone else will know the answer a lot better than I do. But if you're in a rush, compare the structure of the mod-files with the structure of your DCS installation folder. I believe most mods go into Mods\aircrafts, but I might be wrong here.

Edit: Damn, Sniped

Hi guys, sorry to jump in on this thread but I am having a similar problem. I download the zip files from User files.

Do I need to extract them to my Mission Folder in my 'saved games' folder or do I just put the zip files in there? So far I have tried everything but I still cannot see the downloaded missions; very frustrating! Appreciate if someone can give me a good steer.

Thanks in advance for your time!

Yea, did that but still nothing in there; do I need to tell the game where to look for the 'My Missions' folder or something or does it auto look to the saved games folder in Users?

Thanks again for helping!

Works without a problem, just save it to any location you want, from within DCS you can navigate to any directory you want, even those on another drive.

Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base, MFG Crosswind pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S, Elgato Streamdeck XL.

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!

Thanks Lange 666, tried saving it on C drive but still the game (My Missions or C drive) does not see it.

I am assuming that after the download the file is left unzipped and then saved in preferred location? or do I need to unzip it?

Thanks for your time and help!

Are you 100% sure that after the download, the file is in the folder YOU want?

If yes, while opening a mission, you can navigate from withing DCS to that folder and you should be able to see it.

If not, then the only thing i can think of is that .miz files are not associated with DCS anymore but if you see other missions files, that's out of the question.

And JG14_Smil is correct, no need to unzip the file if it has a .miz extention.

it downloads as a zip folder; I then copy and paste the zip folder which contains a couple of files without association (ie not miz files) into my mission folder (C:\Users\myname\Saved Games\DCS\Missions) but the game still does not see the files. I am sure that it is something simple but it is alluding me lol.

Thanks again for your help.

Hey Highwayman,

I know this doesn't help the mission download issue of yours, but that mission you want to download is pretty easy to setup yourself within the mission editor. Give me a PM and I'll walk you through it. I know it doesn't solve the issue at hand, but at least you'll be able to practice some AAR. Cheers to you on that as well. It's tough and frustrating but ultimately (in my opinion) the most satisfying part of the game.
