  1. I'd like to bring this back to the top. I'm lazy so I like to fly hands off as much as I can. Any chance this gets fixed? Anyone know if there's a lua file to edit?
  2. I agree. I wonder if there's some middle ground where you don't have to do the full system modeling but at least you can click buttons and switches. I would definitely pay for that capability.
  3. @mhe What's your slant range? The laser only goes out to 8 NM. Beyond that it's marking a point in space exactly 8 NM at your line of site.
  4. Here's the thing though. Most missions in tactical jets require air refueling. I was attached to a AAR unit and we were always supporting jets with pre/mid and often post mission tanking. They just don't have the legs to do what they need to do without hitting the tanker at least once. In that regard, AAR is as essential a skill as takeoff and landing. It's a part of almost every mission, so to state that it's not necessary to be able to do AAR you can just do other stuff instead kinda ignores the fact that you aren't doing anything without tanking.

  6. Thanks for the clarification @GGTharos. RNG strikes again! So no joy on pre-flaring in general then? Good to know. Not a knock against DCS's implementation, mind you, just helpful to know which RL tactics are beneficial and which ones can be ignored. @DanielNL If you're concerned about balance perhaps get in touch with the manager of your preferred server and request that they restrict usage of 9Xs? Or maybe find a 1990s and earlier server.
  7. Sorry @zhukov032186, it sure sounds like she did, albeit unintentionally: Propaganda hard at work, even after all these years... Regarding whether or not the Su-57 can be considered 'in service' idk how Russia does it but in US programs they usually specify a certain quantity of production units required to declare IOC, at which point the jet is considered 'in service.' Does anyone know if such a number exists for the Su-57?
  8. NVGs are focused to optical infinity. They're pretty worthless for looking at instruments in your cockpit. Luckily your HUD is focused at infinity as well so you can see it clearly through your goggles. Too bad you can't look around them in VR, but the implementation of the NVGs as of now is way more realistic than it used to be. EDIT: Turn down the brighness on your HUD. The bluriness is from the HUD blooming out your goggles. Set it to green if it defaults to red; red light is incompatible with NVGs
  9. Hey Treasure, I would recommend checking out Chuck's guides. He always has sections dedicated to control mappings on the TMWH. He doesn't do guides for the FC3 planes, but I think you would find it helpful to map controls analogous to the Hornet or Viper for your Eagle. You may have to dig a little to find out what function does what (for instance, ACM mode boresight is TMS fwd on the Viper and Sensor Select Forward on the Hornet) but if you put a little thought and effort that'll make your eventual transition to a full DCS module that much easier.   10. Don't use autothrottle. Get used to jockeying the controls. I consider myself to be pretty good at AAR and I'm constantly making micro-adjustments on stick and throttle as I maintain the refueling position. Don't fixate on your speed. Just fly form with the tanker. Honestly, one of the better ways to train is to turn off the HUD so you just have visual cues to work off of.

  12. Check your HOTAS commands. Verify your mapping for Mic switch Fwd/Aft/Down. Set up whatever keys/buttons you like, and then when you press them it should bring up the comm menu with the radio you selected. Forward is VHF, Down if UHF, and Aft is FM. Also, check the volume knobs on the radios themselves and make sure the volume is turned up. Hope this helps!

  21. Depends on what you're looking to do. A-10C can carry the most A2G ordnance, while the F-18, with double racks, can carry a crazy amount of AIM-9s and AIM-120s. Please note however that this is seldom the best way to fly. All those stores will impose significant drag and weight penalties. Sure it can be occasionally fun to load your plane up like a dumptruck in the Armageddon loadout, but IMO I think it's more fun to stay as fast/light/nimble as you can carrying just what you need to complete the mission.

  23. The Eagle Globe and Anchor has Cuba on it. Officer EGAs don't have Cuba.
