Nope. I actually tested my sim, it makes no difference whether the X52 is plugged in with a profile loaded, without a profile loaded and with it unplugged. Furthermore, the X52 does not support FFB. The feedback option can NOT even be enabled and therefore can not affect FPS in any way. Oznerol256 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 (edited) I assume you have the lastest drivers for your graphics card installed. Both AMD and Nvidia released an update this month. The fact that ur system performs worse than others with the same hardware specs should make you think about your system. Maybe your os is full of software that slows your system? You can also download a few benchmarks for your cpu and graphics card and compare the results with other people with your graphics card(s) and cpu. Just to make sure that your hardware performs as it should. Edited January 29, 2013 by Oznerol256 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

The 6870 was holding me back, as it apparently also did in other single card games like ARMA2. The difference is immense. Was using the latest drivers and Xfire profiles. Can't wait to get my second card now :D Went from 5-7fps with no MSAA on the ground to 25-30 with 2xMSAA, which is stable enough to feel nice and smooth and look great at 1080p. I also have a Radeon HD 7870 in my second pc. My fps average is higher than yours, but i have msaa off. Just my 2 cents on your card pick: Why do you buy 2 upper middle class graphics cards instead of one high-end card? You could have got a gtx680 for that money. Especially for DCS one should always prefer single GPU over multi GPU. The only games that *may* benefit from two 7870 over one gtx680 or one 7970 are those triple-A titles that get their own sli/xfire profile and their own performance analytics by nvidia and amd. You had a reason for buying two 7870s instead of gtx680 or 7970 hadnt you? I would like to know why you decided that way. I hope you are going to have lots of fun with your xfire build  Edited January 30, 2013 by Oznerol256 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Leeham Posted January 30, 2013 Author Posted January 30, 2013 (edited) I'd rather have great Xfire performance across the board than sacrifice it for 1 strong card. While DCS is my primary focus, I play other games. Anyway, I got the second card today, haven't got time for flying yet. But put it this way: Metro 2033 @ 1920x1080, Ultra High Settings, DX11 with 4xMSAA = solid 60fps OC'ed the cards slightly to 1100mhz GPU clock and 1300mHz memory (stock were 1000 and 1200 respectively), just for giggles. Both still stay at around 60*C under load, probably going to undo that as such little boost will probably give negligible performance increases. Oznerol256 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Did you test that or is it an estimation? Ultra High Settings? I think you forgot PhysX and other Nvidia specific techniques. That fps is quite nice. sli/xfire burns a lot of energy and might give you headaches with problems like microstutter and wont give you the option to upgrade except buying two all new cards but if you haven't problems with that your system performs exceptionally good for the choosen price range. I hope you are going to have lots of fun with your xfire build  TBH I can get a 7870 for about $200, a performance 680 runs $470-500+. Same money and gain better performance in AAA Titles. I've been chatting with a AMD person after posting on another forum regarding DCS only benefiting from blanket improvements/fixes in the drivers, and it would be nice for AMD to look at the game for a lil bit and at least look at a CrossFire Profile. Tested it myself :) Obviously PhysX was off and stuff, and certain scenes will most likely cause slowdowns. I played through a level (forget which one) with plenty of tessellated surfaces (an assumption) and some lovely fog effects combined with the DoF. Looking forward to playing through again from start to finish. i5 2500k@4.4GHz 16GB RAM 2x AMD HD 7870 2GB CrossFire with 13.2 BETA drivers. Funnily nough, MOH Warhead would microstutter like crazy with the 6870s with any settings (even low/no MSAA), yet works fine with these 78XXs with 4xMSAA and everything Ultra/High. Could be driver side fixes of course. doveman Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Microstuttering and Frame latencies were fixed in Catalyst 13.2 Beta. I upgraded from Cat12.6 to Cat13.2beta3 last week and on Sunday I was getting loads of errors on booting and was no longer able to launch either Arma2OA or DCS World. I reinstalled Cat12.6 but that didn't help, so I had to restore a True Image backup from about two weeks ago and then it was fine. Might have been nothing to do with 13.2beta3 though, as today I'm unable to run Arma2OA again even though I was playing it fine last night. DCS World is still working though.
