Does anyone know of any way to disable the enemy and friendly position indicator marks in the Abris via the map editor?

The multiplayer missions in the squadron I'm in tend to have F10 map disabled to encourage recon and whatnot, but unfortunately the automatic generation of intelligence on enemy positions in the Abris nullifies all of that.

I don't test for bugs, but when I do I do it in production.

Actually, it's a flaw in DCS titles.

either you can cheat to death and knows what exactly coming at you, or you can't see anything and explode because you never found this sam manpad the direction and range you've been told.

From what i've read somewhere else,

Ground forces un-hide all units they see with CA.

Fog of war is way too powerful

But your abris should show only air threat range from sam capable units.

as it's said, hide sam units and show nothing on map should help to force a recon.

Lol Erforce.

Yes, you have to hide all the ennemy units in the mission editor to prevent having them showing up on the ABRIS.

Spotting units with the Shkval takes a bit of practise and some tuning of it with the contrast and luminosity buttons. It's hard at the begining to know what exactly you are looking for. A new guy in my squad last Wednesday was sitting right in front of a group of infantry and was unable to spot them.

Then you'll start to become suspicious at this black pixel sitting on top of this building who is not suppose to have a black pixel here... :-)

Granted, the Manpads are deadly, but I suspect it is pretty much how it is in real life.

Erforce: Yeah, it's a challenge. Bump up the Shkval resolution as high as you can (1024 every frame, if possible), try to know where the FEBA is, and spend a lot of time scanning. Those help, but yes, it's still a challenge =)

ABRIS is based purely on what is hidden or not in the mission editor. The F10 view depends on the users or missions forced options.

I have put in a request to see if this can get changed to at least give the player some sort of option for abris display.

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.

Yeah, Grimes, that's what we were suspecting. Our missions are often dual sided with ground commanders so hiding units in the editor isn't an option unfortunately, although worth remembering for the odd one-sided mission. The majority of our KA pilots are very good, so no need giving them any crutches.

We'd be a big supporter of editor control of ABRIS intel.

Then it turns into paranoia, and treetops sticking up from behind hills look like tunguskas and avengers xD

but it be real nice if you could disable the intel in the abris
