Oznerol256 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Many guys on the forum use TrackIR or FreeTrack. While i am enjoying 6DOF too, i have a question: How do you zoom in? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Boberro Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Moving head toward monitor? Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
SkateZilla Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 i mapped the "/" and "*" Keys on the Numpad to my Hotas. Or yeah, move you head forward Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
Oznerol256 Posted February 12, 2013 Author Posted February 12, 2013 Moving the head forward will move the position of the virtual pilot's head. However, when doing a gun run, i need to zoom (lower the fov) in order to aim. @SkateZilla: This does mean you have to use additional view control using keys in order to do a gun run, even though you have FreeTrack/TrackIR? cichlidfan Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Yes. Unless you change the control config so that moving your head forward actually zooms (you can do that in the sims control settings) you still need the zoom keys to simulate binoculars. ;) ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! I Line up Target, and use TrackIR to control head Movements, but When I want to Quickly ZOOM in on the HUD/Gun Reticle or Gauges, without having to move my head forward, I just press the ZOOM IN button on my throttle.. the Zoom in and zoom out buttons are not disabled when headTracking is present.z Moving your Head forward w/ Track IR isnt "Zoom" it's moving the Camera Forward. Zooming In with the Zoom keys, keeps camera in the main position, while zooming in. Skip to 1m:58 seconds. I Zoom in on Guages with ZOOM button. EvilBivol-1 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 You can use the zoom in/out commands or add optical zoom to an axis on the HOTAS. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. The Parable of Jane's A-10 Forum Rules

Drippy Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 (edited) In the AXIS section you can change the Zoom to moving your head forward. It is the Z axis on TrackIR. I also have the head move forward set to my X52 thumb wheel. (Huge dead zone with a jump to full forward so it does not shudder). I think it really helps with Gun runs. Also I find it can help to pause/disable TrackIR when you are zoomed in so the zoom and picture stay constant. On my stick is a Pause for my TrackIR. Zoom in, Pause TrackIR. Find the tiny black dots line up and burst. As I break off of my attack run I unpause the TrackIR and look over my shoulder to see my carnage. Haven't seen anybody else do it that way on Youtube yet. It does help. You do lose situational awareness during your gun run but your probably concentrating on the target at that point Edited February 12, 2013 by Drippy
